I'm anxious for the phone call from the shop. "Come pick her up." So I can start modding again haha. Maybe I'll get as cruise out of the ROC this year. Have to see how the transmission holds up when I get it back.

Hey guys I just thought I would give my fellow Ohioans first dibs at this near perfect 82-92 camaro 5-speed shift plate that I don't have any use for. It is out of an 89 rs. Very few flaws which I will point out in pics. Price is $70 picked up here in Cleveland Ohio $90 if shipped outside of ohio. Getting a paypal account together if needed just ask.

You're looking to trade a 3.1 v6 for a v8 motor? Did I read that right?

Re: Ohio?
yes, i know it is a long shot but worth a try! I am looking for a v-8 though, at nice price....I cant really seen to find any around me, that have not been seriously over heated, through a demo derby or there 305's, and a nice engine could be found anywhere here, went to war 6 times finally came home! (yay) Throw away cars and ricers rule the streets around here, So tucked far far bad in the corner of this fenced in yard i could see a door of a 55 Chevy so I decided to knock and ask about it, turns out he was a veteran as well so i asked about the 55, he opened the fence I was a plethora of Chevy and Mopar that would blew my mind and tucked in the corner was this 91 Camaro looked odd a long the rest said it was a daughters car that she wrecked and he was fixing is red with silver doors and a rear wing off a t/a kinda goofy. but she moved away and became a dentist drives a fancy bmw now, So guy told me that and called her first started out at 800 bucks, I thought it was an okay price, then i asked about the rest and he wouldn't budge so I offered the 800, and he said you know what, i have a pull barn out back i want to show you he said it is full of other cars i said cool, he slid open the door and there was endless fords falcons, 50's crown Victorians, thunderbolts, and everything a t-bird person could ever want 55-62, mustangs and old school ford trucks,Edsel s thought i was in Henry Fords shop, but I am hard core Chevy fan to the bone, I had to show him my Chevy tat. and he said ok as he closed the door Camaro is yours threw me the keys said drive it out of here I need the space! but I would need you to come back around and help me move some things around.

Free camaro? Now that's a score! And welcome home!

How much are you looking to spend on the v8? What size? Are you looking for stock or modified? Carb or efi?

yes it was...thanks for the welcome home! as far as the v-8 I am looking for anything but a 305, in all honestly, will take 283, 327, 350, 454. I am just looking for a good core to start with, maybe 4-5 hundred. cause remember I am looking to cook these ***** cars but I am trying to be stealth about it and create a sleeper, so could hide some spray or, i don't know anything with turbo, if they make quiet ones

Re: Ohio?
Ross, I'd suggest a gen III truck engine. I got one from Affordable Auto Parts in Painesville. I'm using it in a rather extensive project with a 77 T/A, but have had the setup moving under its own power. I swapped over to a car intake and oil pan, but I've seen a full truck setup fit under a stock 3rd gen hood. Price could be within or close to your budget and end up with a great setup.

Well it was in for a few, I have to pull it back out. I really thought I had enough clearance between the oil pan and the k member, but i don't. One battle after another with this damn swap.

I always forget about this thread
so Ive had this sitting in the basement for like 4 years figured its time to try it out

so I put it on ran the crap out of it and well broke a valve spring no damage "soooooo lucky" turns out the zz3 springs have dampeners that don't like the cams exhaust lift so they snap and ya not so much fun
gm had a bulletin about it to replace them with lt4 springs seats and caps so that's what im doing

I will say the super ram plenum and runners made a huge change more power everywhere and power till 6000 rpm

im ordering some lt4 springs caps and retainers I also picked up some poly bushings for the a arms this part is not going so well cant get the old bushings out yet going to be installing all new steering stuff again and im getting moog springs all around

Re: Ohio?
The car has received an overhaul since it's been in my possession. All fluids have been flushed and refilled. The trans used to shift extremely hard into 2nd and slip always between 30-35mph. Now it shifts nicely into 2nd and just sometimes slips in that sweet 30-35mph range. I've re-adjusted the TV cable a couple times which seems to have helped a bit as well as the new fluids. The old fluid was gunky brown/red. Definitely long periods of overheating the trans fluid. As when I bought it the car overheated a lot, he drove it like that and also let a few people hot rod it before selling to me. Looking into doing a 5spd swap for winter. That or a quick replacement of the 700R4.

Just finished overhauling front and rear brakes minus hardlines to the front calipers, booster and master cylinder. Probably bleed all 4 corners 1 more time. Brakes still feel spongy. Speedbleeders are awesome though. Pump until you hear a solid stream then close. Need to get my build thread going this week. Starting to get backed up on organizing my information. And to figure out this headlight problem. One headlight works low or high, but the other only high beam, and now, neither high nor low.

Check the grounds right by the lights. It could be something like that or the switch might have went bad.

This weekend was super summit, everything was 10% off... even clearance items. I bought all of my fuel line parts and the poly torque arm bushing. All of my old fuel lines are out of the car and ready for the scrap pile. Later this evening or tomorrow i'll build the stainless braided -6 lines for the new setup. Here is a pic of the fuel filter/regulator combo. This should be pretty easy to take on and off when needed.

Azrael and 86base hung out for awhile last night. They helped me knock some work out. The motor and tranny are back in the car, for good hopefully. New poly torque arm bushing is installed and hooked up. The hawks tranny x member is in and hooked up. Hopefully i'll be able to try and fire it up next weekend.

Re: Ohio?
Newtons Law always bites me in the ***. It never fails, something goes right so something has to go wrong. I found the right fitting for my fuel line setup finally. I actually had the fitting on my braided lines for my hsr setup on my other motor. Got the fuel lines done then decided to clean up the driveshaft some. My aluminum 1LE driveshaft decided to take a spill off of my work bench and onto the floor. It is now missing a balance weight and some of the needles from one of the bearings. AWESOME!!!

Thursday my grandparents are going to run it down to a shop in new philly that can fix it. I'm going to get spicer solid u joints installed on both ends, and then it'll get rebalanced. Such is life I guess...

Re: Ohio?
Replacing the trans today and tomorrow. 1st was all it would allow (went out on my way to get lunch). It's been going out for a while. It held up as long as it could. I'll pick up the trans this Wednesday sometime after 6pm. Oh, and blew off the upper hose again, while attempting to creep the Camaro home from work. Crappy connections. Probably pick up a hi-miler replacement and better clamps. Hopefully back on the road by Wednesday night.

What should I look to replace/watch out for when doing this swap? A buddy recommended front and rear seals, since they're easy and would mean removing the whole trans to replace if they went bad after re-install. Thanks. I'm making a list for after work today. This is my first trans replacement/swap so.

Here is what I see so far. I know I want the front and rear seals. Do I need the kwik-sleeve?
Front seal - http://www.autozone.com/autozone/par..._0_1277%2C2910
Front pump Kwik-Sleeve - http://www.autozone.com/autozone/par...96_1277%2C2910
Rear seal - http://www.autozone.com/autozone/par...98_1277%2C3030
Filter - http://www.autozone.com/autozone/par..._722779_0_8069

Quote: As far as seals I personally prefer the ones with A lip on the seal that way you know it is in the right place and it wont have a tendency to move to much from vibration... to each is own I would recommend though to put some thick lubricant on the inside groove to insure a leak free seal

Re: Ohio?
Anyone want to quickly fab me up an upper and lower radiator hose hard pipe with couplers. My Summit ribbed style keeps blowing off no matter how tight or how many clamps I use to keep it on. So I'm looking to just have the upper and lower hoses replaced with hard pipes and couplers rather than these soft rubber hose adapters and no lip ribbed hoses.

Let me know guys, I'll drive it over, let you swap them on and pay. I need this done asap. Can't keep throwing $30-$50 in coolant every hot day.

P.S. Swapped a replacement trans in...finding out I had a trans from 84 and earlier and it wasn't the original transmission. Fun.
