What else do you need to do to it? Any interest in a 79 pontiac 350 with 4 bolt main caps? It's mostly a complete motor with a chevy tranny adapter plate.

My gf's sister lives out there, and she is dating my cousin. So we head out there for one thing or another about every other week.

Jason I decided I am selling my drag radials. I decided on 150 for the set. Let me know if you still want them. I'm trying to get rid of them pretty quick so I can put a down payment on a new bed.

Looks like a pretty good motor. The one I'm trying to sell made about 400 hp and blew the rear end out of my buddies 81 nova twice. I'm only asking 300 for it. It has an aluminum intake, bigger cam, bigger lift rockers, flexplate, GM tranny adapter plate, high flow water pump, and i think it still has the mechanical fuel pump on it. I also have a brand new msd bronze distributor gear for a pontiac 350 to go with it. Please Please let me know if anybody is interested. I will get pics of it here in the next day or two.

Re: Ohio?

Well here we go, things are starting to come together. The garage is nearly ready for my Formula to be pulled in, almost all my parts are here (coil on backorder until January, REALLY?!), and everything is almost planned out. I'll start on the new motor rebuild as soon as the ground dries/freezes, so we can move it out to the garage. New tranny rebuild is up in the air, but hopefully being scheduled soon. TPI parts going to my dad's shop Monday for a bit of material added to them.

If all goes well, I should have the car done by the time the coil gets here. Crossed fingers.

Stock ignition will be fine for me for now, not making enough power to really need or even be worth getting one.

How's the car coming along Mark?

Re: Ohio?

Its going good. Not much else I can do to it untill I get that rear end on there.

Im attempting to get the disk brake backing plates off today. So that I can swap on my drums.

Come warmer days and the posi, i plan to toss on the slicks and take it down my data logging road for some launches. That turbo spools up so fast now that I need slicks and posi to not just sit there and spin. Alot of tuneing needs to be done too. Mainly the boost controler stuff and some safety features for the alky injection.

But over all the car is going good. Im trying my best to keep the boost @10psi this year and no more then that. This time im aiming for the traction and boost on the line to propel me into the 12's...not just jacking up the boost to compinsate for the shittty start off the line.

The tranny is doing well though right now. It shifts like it should dropping RPM's. I think that the tranny cooler really helped out and since I have another trans, im just going to toss a trans go shift kit and servo on that one for now insted of the TH350 swap since im tight on $$ right now. But overall the car, I would bet, could run 12 easily right now at the track with traction(maybe only a high one at best but still the boost is kicking in instantly compared to before). Im only pushing 20* of timing at my 10Psi of boost(thats 4* less then previous)

Re: Ohio?

Wow, 10 psi. Imagine what sort of times it would run if you bumped it up to 15 Once you get traction of course. I think at Norwalk with their track prep, and slicks + posi, you should hook up fine. Unless you plan on busting out some like 1.50 60' times lol.

Im trying to keep it at 10-11psi for the season on a regular basis. And also have low timing.(gotta make this engine last longer till I can build up the original 3.1L) This turbo is alot bigger. So now I can move a hellof alot more air with less psi.

I got the backing plates off, also made sure I had moser 28 spline axle. And I do so thats a good thing. I plan to start tearing off my rear end at my house this week and hopefully install the posi rear end in the next week or so.

Id just want some 1.8x 60 ft times insted of the 2.0-2.1 on average and trapping 107mph like before. That was just embarassing.

I was almost caught up to you, 2.02 60' I'm aiming for low 1.80 60', so yours would be high 1.8x or low 1.9x if I had a guess. That turbo will definitely make up for it though, and then some.

Re: Ohio?

with the gears alone ur going to drop some time off the 60' with a tire that hooks u should go consitant 1.7/1.8x 60's.

mph will probably drop by 1-2 mph, and more then likley u will see less of a mph spread on the big end

u need to verify timing at high rpm , due to moudle and hardware latency timming may be more or less then what u command, less is ok but more could cause issues

to do this burn a chip with the timing at 5k-6k and all cells set to 20* u do this so if ur not exactly at 5,500 rpms when u check it the timing wont change

then have a friend get in the car and rev/hold the engine to 5,500 while u verify 20* on the balancer with a timing light

'this is the only and i repeat only way to verify u have actual commanded timing at high rpm

i have a feeling u will find its not what ur commanding as i had this issue

i also never go over 21* of timing with my 3.1 even at 8k rpms,

dont watse the money on the transgo kit its over 100 bucks

get the b@m kit for 55$'s the megaboost valve and the vetter or monster servo.

that new turbo is going to make more power then even with those upgrades the trans will take.
i wa sbuilding mine with the now discontinued tci race kits wich had all the good clutches and bands etc in them, if i raced every week
3 runs wensday nights , 3-4 on fridays and a few passes on staurdays , i would get 1-2 months tops out of the units.

i kept a bunch of spares core transmissions at the shop and would build 2 at a time, i dont care what ppl tell u about the 700r4 but its not going to hold period

i highly suggest u install a drive shaft saftey loop if u dont already have one, though u should as most tracks require one with any cars with slicks , though iirc with dot/cheater slicks they arent required, but still a very very good idea

i also may have an intercooler for ya 32x16x4 3 inch in and out , barley used im switching over to a w2a setup now that im building the 427sbc for my car

if i decide to ditch the a2a say 100bucks plus shipping and ill even throw in some 3 inch alumininum tubing couplers and tbolt clamps

i paid 250 for it and its a true bar and plate good intercooler its not from ebay in 105* weather i saw 115* air temps without alky, it fits perfect up in the nose of the car

Re: Ohio?

I also believe you dave. That the car "should" make good 60ft times with the gears and the less boost lag. I dont see any less then high 1.8s at best. But in the spring well find out. As long as the car can dot shatter on a boosted launch..lmao

I also do know many ppl that have blown those 700R4's up and known ppl that swear by them. You right though, I should just save my $$ for now for the TH350. At least I have 2 good trans in case one takes a crap. No sence in dumping a ton on $$ into a mediocer tranny..

I do have a driveshaft loop on the car. Got one on there last year.Track makes anyone under 13.99 have them(thats if they really enforce it).

Thanks for the reminder to re-check that timing. I did check it last season but at a lower rpm. 4500 IIRC and it was right. Ill get the G.F to help me later this week rev here up to 5500 and see what happends.

Id like to get ahold of the intercooler exspecially if you can toss a few parts in with it. Let me know. I like the alky but also want some safety on there with the IC.

I was in the 1.9x's a few times(on good launches), so you may have been close at the start but after the 60ft there was no chance...lol "the lil V6 that could" is all you would have seen

i would prioritize the parts list if it were me i would do it in this order as money allows

#1 shiftkit
#2 ignitionbox/2step
#3 intercooler
#4 trans swap

the shiftkit and 2 step/ign box will give the biggest gains prolly .1-.2 on the shiftkit and damn near .400- .500 on the 2 step since it will allow u to launch at full boost

did u ever find out what size nozzle u have for the alky

U MIGHT BE ABLE TO BUY THE .500 BOOST VALVE AND THE .296 LOW/REVERSE VALVE SEPERATLY FOR LESS opps caps lock was on but not retyping

i found the .500 boost vales for 8 bucks shipped didnt look for the .296 low reverse

and here is the servo for 13 bucks

Re: Ohio?

Ive talked to Dana there and he said that the kits fit V6 trans also.

I have a 300cc nozzle. Not sure what that equates to in gal/hr. Or even what sorts of Hp that supports. @100psi as thats what I believe that pump is rated to.

What does the servo do again?? I have some ideas but im not sure about it.
Those 2 boost valves keep the line pressure up high right??

the servo aplies the band the bigger the servo(surface area) the m ore apply presure it has

i know most of the kit i ave fits both , just unsure of the 5 pinion planetary and beast sunshell those may or may not fit id have to ask dana to be sure

if it does i may have to hold onto the whole kit for when i get the 3.4 finished

Re: Ohio?

Is that 12.60 goal going to consist of using slicks? Just curious because your motor seems a little on the mild side to put down that kind of number.

Re: Ohio?

I'll be on a set of Nitto's starting out. I'm not sure if 12.60 is really my goal, I just wanted a 12 and that sounded like a good number lol. The motor is somewhat mild, although I should be around 10.3 compression, so that'll help. The main thing is the combination as a whole. The cam, stall, and rear gear are all matched to support about a 5500-6000 shift point. Also, the car should weigh slightly less, hopefully about 3300 race weight next year. I'm hoping all these things as a whole will get me into the 12s.

I can see you dipping into the 12's on the DR's in some good weather. I personally feel that intake is going to hurt you some, not to mention the stock heads even when ported. Morgan is around 13.30's with a zz4 setup and jason went 13.50's with his 350 superram motor.

I still think for the amount of $$ you have put in/or had to put in it, for staying N/A, heads should have been tossed for a new set.

Re: Ohio?

I put a similar setup to his in desktop dyno and this is what it says. And I know it's just desktop dyno so before anybody starts bitching, it's just for guesstimate purposes.

355, 10.3 compression, his exact cam, his heads with upped flow numbers for home porting, 660 cfm tpi setup, small tube headers with mufflers. This is what it said, and it seems about right if you ask me.

RPM HP/TQ
2000 153/401
2500 192/404
3000 234/410
3500 279/419
4000 319/418
4500 348/406
5000 364/382
5500 360/344
6000 343/300

Re: Ohio?

Those are high estimate in my mind, but if its anwhere near there that would be awsome. But I know its just s dest top calc. I, going to see what a calc says for my car just for shitts and giggles.

I stil feel that the main balance point that he is going to have to worrie about is tuning that thing once it fires up. I believe it going to be a good long process to work the kinks out of it exspecially with the MAF set up. IF all else fails though, toss a carb on it and let it ride.
