High Volume oil pump ???

Im startin my buildup of a 355 sbc motor with Vortec Heads on a Tpi fuel injection system... what is needed if I go to a high volume oil pump (i.e. bigger oil pan, etc)? will I have any lubricating issues if I stay with a standard volume pump? Please help

you can use a high volume pump, but it's not necessary unless you're planning on sustained high-speed cornering (Autocross, circle track, road course). A high volume pump can actually work against you in some situations. For a street/strip motor I'd recommend a normal pump.

I have a HV Melling Oil Pump with my stock oil pan and couldn't be happier, I love starting my car and watching the Oil Psi get pegged.

You don't really need an aftermarket pan with more capacity unless you want to bee cool like Mr. 3.485670246957RS and have your y-pipe slapping against it.

And as mentioned earlier make sure that all your gaskets are in good shape, not much of a problem if your timing cover is sealed well IMHO, we already have 1 pc oil pan gaskets.

Some pumps come with pickup tubes welded to housing, if yours doesnt have someone put a couple tack welds on it. Something common on sbc oilpumps, allthough ive never had it happen to me, ive heard that they can come out as they are press fit.
