Yes, that's too much. Closer to $1500 or less is my guesstimate, but if it's really clean. ..it's whatever you're willing to pay for a 3rd gen sometimes. Good luck.

For 2200 you can score a relatively clean Z28 with some mods already done to it if you look hard enough. One thing to keep in mind.. in the car world, a good deal is jus around the corner. Keep your eyes open and be patient. You will be much happier when u find the one you really want. You settle, and u will never be happy with it. Good luck

It all depends on what your goals are for the car and what you want out of a 3rd gen. You may still be figuring that out.

If you like the V6 and that body, great, try to get it for cheaper.

If you want to go fast, a clean 3rd gen body and interior is a good base, but you're just going to gut the drivetrain, so don't pay a lot for it then either.

I think it is too much. Are you looking for a v6 car? I'd wait, as their are a ton of these cars around for one who fits what you want the closest and get that one.

And dont buy a car that needs everything. Look for a clean interior, paint job. But needs engine work. or has the engine good and interior but needs body...if you get one that needs everything you'll get overwhelmed by the project and end up moving on...

For a 6er he'd be lucky to get $1000 even with a clean car

Take that $2200 and get an IROC or Z28

You wanted an opinion and you got one that was all very mutual. Wherever you are, Look broader. You have the internet right in front of you. Craigslist. Ebay.

I just want to know where "out here" is...haha...

I paid 1k..well my daddy paid 1k for my car dang..12 years ago, and it ran good. it just needed a paint job (and even the paint wasnt that bad, normal hood peel, roof peel, and the passenger side had a big dent in it) but interior, engine, transmission, rearend all worked good. it's also a v8, of course not tpi, but tbi...but yeah..

If you watch craigslist, you will find a better car than that car. for less money. Guaranteed. Will you find it tomorrow? maybe not. But you'll find one within a month or two that'll be what you want.

If you would tell us where "out here" is. We would gladly post cars we see around for you. so you can look at and decide also.

Re: could use some opinions. hopefully yours

I think you offerd a good price. Sorry someone beat you out. Just to give you guys heads up check out the nada car prices for the older cars. Hey i put in the V6 motor verses the Tpi V8 Iroc in price, not a lot of difference. So yes the TPI motor is the better faster, but the V6 is also a enjoyable car to drive. I have owned both. It really boils down to condition and if you can live without the speed..lol Oh and our cars are not just beaters and worthless, they are a era and time of there own, sleek, sexy, hot, car in my oppion! JHBM24 wishing you find another you like!

Pretty sure all these below that price are awesomer than the 85 V6 Berlinetta, haha.

(Some non third-gen content within, beware!)

12 years ago, drove the car for a long time without doing anything to it..still have it today. the economy was actually better back then.

That 98's price is pretty good.

third gen's are cooler though!

trust me you'd be able to find a better car than that. But the prices of third gen's are going up, because they are awesome cars.

Re: could use some opinions. hopefully yours

I would say keep looking, buy one thats in good running condition. That does not need a lot of work. Now thats hard to do without paying a good price. Not everyone is honest about the car they are selling. really who in their right mind would sell a thirdgen that runs great and doesn't need a lot of work? seriously?
