Will Nittos cut it?

I have a full bolt on L03 which I will be spraying a 150 shot of nitrous off the line with. I currently have a set of Nitto 555R drag radials, but I am not sure if they will hook or not. Will I need to step up to the BFG drag radials? I do not want to go with the MT drag radial, because I feel the tread design is poor for a daily driver. I would appreciate any advice.

None of those tires are for a daily driver.

yeah man, you'll be putting on new tires after every 10k if you use those on a daily driven car. i ran my bfg's on the street for one day, won't do that again.

Nittos are perfectly fine for the street. I had 15K miles on my old WS6 before they wouldn't pass inspection. 13K on the TTA when a nail went in the sidewall. Those had even more tread than the WS6 tires. The Nittos were everyday tires for both cars. Never had a problem except once when I tried to drive in the snow with the WS6. Nittos are fine in everything but snow

And they'll handle what you can throw at them at the track also. 1.6x on a stock suspended TTA wasn't too shabby

im with tta on this one. ive driven on nothing but drag radials for the past 4 years(with the exception of my et streets on ocasion). i dont drive on the freeway in the rain at speeds faster than 50mph, but they are a good everyday driver type tire. i wouldnt recomend them to the inexperianced driver, but i wouldnt recomend any performance tire for the inexperianced.

Nittos are fine for everyday street use. I've been using them for almost 3 years now. They do surprisingly well in the rain (as long as you still have tread), and expect no more than 15000 miles tops. I usually see just under 10k from mine, with occassional track use. Some might gawk at the 10k mile treadlife, but I feel its worth it. 1st gear is useless over 1/2 throttle without them.

10k miles is perfectly fine with me. From what I have seen, 1.8 seems to be about the edge for the nittos. I'm just concerned that he 150 hit of nitrous will light the tires up, but if you guys think I can dead hook with them, then I will stick with the nittos. The BFG's have the same tread depth as the Nittos, but have a softer compound, and the tread design is perfectly fine for a daily driver with 255 width tires IMO.

I have a friend who runs BFG d.r's on his 4th gen, daily drove it, rain, highway, everything with no probs. Maybe people are pickier than others, wasnt anything like people described it to be. Werent really much different than any other tire. These were the G-force T/A or whatever though.

I've seen fourth gens hook on the nittos incredibly well(and nearly stock suspension), but for some reason I've seen similiar third-gens just not be able to cut as well 60ft times with them. I have a 2nd gen and Nittos with a 5-speed and forget about it(i'm lucky if I cut a 1.99 60ft time)-and I have moderate suspension mods.

The new M/Ts drag radials are about the best of the bunch from everyone I've been listening to.

Hey guys speaking of tires, I am installing a trans go along with a 2800 stall. I am running futura ultra z's, and believe it or not, they hook very well. Think they will cut it with the stall? I've had my eyes on these for a while, seems you guys are happy with them.

I don't have to worry about these tires killing my rear end will I?

I've heard good things about those Pep Boys tires. But I don't think they'll be much good with more stall speed.

And no, I wouldn't even worry with a 10 bolt - I don't. You should have a 9 bolt which I'm sure you already know is more durable than the 10 bolt.

Yea, it's too bad they discontinued them.
