Test and tune times...changes..Added pics&vids

So i am making some changes on the car....

Here are times from earlier this summer. 3/19/11

12.49 @ 115
1.88 60ft
8.09 660ft @89

Changes: 90/10 lakewoods, qa1 double adjustable shocks, removed front sway bar, spohn torque arm, liberty geared tko 600

7/23/11

12.40 @112
1.86 60ft
8.01 660ft @89

Had trouble all night with clutch issues and then blew the brand new trans up...... Not quite sure about the drop in mph but same times.

So here are the new changes: Fixed tko trans, twin disc clutch, Moser 9"(4.11 gears, wave trac locker 35 spline axles), batt relocate... I also have all the nx stuff(200 kit) ready to go but i want to get the car dialed in on motor. I think the big difference is going to be the gear change. Old gear was 3.42. Hopefully get the car in the 1.5 60 ft times and i think it will have 11s in it on motor.....

Same old story. 60ft is terrible and needs to be improved.

But on another note....Post up some pics of the car and some more details.

Re: Test and tune times...changes..

I think that the crappy 60s are due to the 3.42 gear. I can get the car to hook all day long but it will bog when it does. It runs the best when the car spins out of the hole. I am thinking that the 4.11s should help that.

The car is awesome!! Love all of it. I'm assuming you're running those times on motor???

Yes all on motor, and at roughly at 6000 elevation. Here is a vid from march.

I'd say go big, like 4.56 at least (if you can do that with a 9-bolt). I've got 4.11's in my car, and I have to rev it to the moon at the launch to keep it from bogging, and I, too, get the best 60' times with it spins the tires (some - too much and it just kills 60' and ET). I don't have near the power you do, though.

I've never heard of a "Liberty Geared Tko 600". How does that work?

Re: Test and tune times...changes..

Liberty gears takes a tremec tko 600 trans and face plates(gets rid of syncro) 2,3,&4th gears and adds a front bearing support. They have a couple of other goodies that they install as well but they claim that the trans when upgraded will handle 1000 hp.......they have guys running 9s rowing gears.

Also i was planning on a 4.30 gear but moser talked me out of it due to a 2.4 first gear in the tko. They said a 4.30 gear would be like a granny gear and be usless.

Ah, gotcha. Not clutchless, but much stronger and better shifting. Might have to look into that. Looks like you can convert your own T56, don't have to buy the whole tranny from them.

We have guys running 9's here (I'm always paired with one of them 1st round), and they're all running Liberty's or Jerico's (I guess one or two still have a Lenco).

Have you tried MORE RPM and slipping the clutch more. I've gotten much better 60' times using that technique than a regular drop.

I think with the rear end ratio change it is going to keep the rpm up and kill the bog situation..... in fact i will prob have to lower the launch rpm from 4200 so i dont blow the tires off but only time and tuning will tell.

Nice job.. Heavier flywheel will likely help.. My flywheel is 38 lbs, using single disc Spec 3... Have gone 1.43's best last year using 28" tire, 4.11's with high 2.66 first gear.. Should be able to get down to high 1.3s I think at sticy track.. I am sure gears will help your issues as well, I would not do 4.56s though.. I am contemplating going to 3.90s in mine..

Did you say you have a 2.4 first? WOW that is high! Maybe you do want 4.30s.. I thought they had 2.87 first? In that case I would go 4.10s for sure..

I just had mine done after 2.5 months of them having... You can send gear assembly to them or whole trans.. It shiftS great though, you will hit "a" gear no matter what rpm or speed....

Have you sprayed the car yet. I see the kit is on and ready. I'll bet a good 150+ shot will kill the bog and compensate for lack of gear.

I agree with that. If you plan on spraying get that set up and try it out before you make any changes to the driveline. It would suck to run out of gear at the end of the track!

How about street driving, road racing, downshifting, etc.?

I love it! It is way easier to drive than some people made it out to be.. Either shift slow (meaning pause to allow rpm drop) Or double clutch and it falls into gear with out a noise.. When down shifting Increase rpm x 1k from where you are and same result.. Only time it gets tricky is down shifting multiple gears when slowing down say from 5th to 2nd, you sorta loose your bearing as for what RMP you should be at.. But when in doubt, pull gear fast and it goes right in.. It is very drivable... When rowing fast, you have 100% confidence you will go into gear, no matter what RPM and it goes in easy, no resistance at all..

Re: Test and tune times...changes..Added pics&vids

I already have the moser 9 inch and its just about ready to go in. I just sorted out the N20 fuel system and have full plans to start with a 200 shot. I would just like to get the car sorted out on motor before i start spraying. I found a really kick *** gear ratio calculator and i should be more than good with a 4.11 gear as far as run out. In fact i would have been fine with a 4.30 but the first gear is a little steep. I was wrong earlier it is a 2.87 first which should rip with the new gear. Here are a few more pics.
