60' Time?
60' Time?
Anyone have an idea what my 60' times should be?
89 GTA,L98,96 LT1cam,1.6 roller tips,9.75:1 compression,fully ported L98 heads,mildly ported TPI,SLP 1 3/4 " headers,no cat,flowmaster muffler,Hughes 2500 stall converter.
I guess I'll have to get some drag radials, cus all it does is spin off the line. These are my results from the track y-day.(only made 1 pass)
ET 15.13@94.28, with a 2.781 60' time...........Thanks

2.78's are really bad. A 4 cylinder FWD car should do better than that. You should be 1.9's or 2.0's depending on your gearing.
how do you even get traction?? when i was at the track i was spinning nasty style off the line and didnt even move! i tried to feather the pedle,, but same results.. maybe my tires are just shiit

You've never said what kind, size, condition of the tires that you currently have.
Even an old used set of slicks can be considered worn out and slippery.
Street tires are not drag tires. They are made of hard rubber compounds designed for long life and are not designed to be heated up.
Invest in a second set of tires and rims for the track or live with poor and inconsistant 60' times with street tires.

A LOT has to do with how well prep'd the track is. If it's a 'test n' tune' day, you more apt to have crappy prep...IMO.
Trans slippage, peg leg, crappy tires, poor track prep can all lead to horrible 60' times.

Back when I was mostly stock I ran 2.0s-2.1s and 14.125 at 97 MPH. My best 60ft on street tires was 1.903 with my 2k converter and on my worst run ever I went 2.5 and I was all over the place and went a 15.3 if I remember right (1st time at the track and same night I ran 14.125). Since you have a converter Id invest in drag radials and watch what a difference they make the next time out. Before you do that though, Id invest in a good set of subframe connectors 1st, just to keep the car twist free...
Why doesnt anyone every step up their suspension before the engine? SFC and new control arms in the back with, with a new torque arm bushing can work wonders. Just getting all those old bushings replaced can be a miracle. I am not recommending everyone go like me and backhalve the car. But updating that suspension can work wonders.
A nice torque arm and some LCA brackets will work wonders on 60' times.
But if I were you I'd invest in a pair of Nitto NT555R's. The stick like glue when you air them down and warm them up.

For reference I just ran a 2.09 60' time on stock goodyear GSCs on my 91 formula ws6 5.7L. The car is mostly stock, just an air foil, open filter element and Ed Wright standard fastchip.

I average 2.16 on my 2 month old Goodyear GTII's, and I have a lot of mods to my rear suspension. Doing a burnout makes no difference whatsoever for me. I still slip off the line, and when going into 2nd. =/
