Transmissions Suck!

Well guys. If anybody has a line on a t-5 in good condition let me know. Mine is shot for some reason. I only get 1 and 2nd gear. it won't shift into neutral to get to any other gears. Thanks! Or what's the normal price for a rebuild o a T-5?

If I could get it before the gathering I'd jump all over it! But I prolly can't. I dunno if I'll come if I can't get my car running in time...

Jony-iroc, I feel your pain! I just shelled out well over a grand for a stage 3 700r4 that is capable of handling up to 600 fly wheel hp. OUCH! Yes, they do suck! Hope you get your problem resolved soon.

John, with my work schedule I can't get the swap done until mid Aug. Once I get it out if your still in the market we can work something out.

700 bucks? what the hell.

the previous owner of my 84 bought a used v6 t-5 with 70k miles for 150 bucks locally.

had to replace the original transmission because it ate the 4th gear synchro.

john, do some digging. t-5's shouldn't be that hard to find.

I got a line on one for 75. granted it's a v6 but it will work until I can get the few hundred to rebuild my t-5

When I drag mine out it's up for $200.

BTW, V-6 T-5's have different input shafts and a different 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear ratios, you'll have to get a V-6 clutch disc to make it work.

I know about hte clutch disk. Question though. can I put my input shaft into the front of this thing? That way I could use mye xisting clutch disk.

I don't know if you can but it would be more work than it's worth to me.

well the answer is no. the clutch gear teeth are different count. It's all good though. This'll last me until I can get a rebuild one for a v8.
