new topic

Ok here's one, what does everyone think of 2.77 gears on a 9bolt posi/limeted slip rearend?? Thats what i found out i had. The thing is, my car is in the shop getting the rearend fixed and i might have to get new gears..Should i go with 3.27's or 3.45's? What would you reccomend if i have to get new gears?

The wife has B/W 3:70's in her HO, with a 5 speed it launches quite well

Mine has the gentler 3:27 Borgy, even barks second

3:27 would work good for you.

I fixed my traction problem by cutting my springs
Now I can't spin the tires.
And that's on crappy bald all seasons

and the brakes feel better after undoing the top of the strut and letting the whole suspension hang by the line heh oops

Does anyone know where I can get a 400 block? I still can't find one close enough to pick up. Cause heads with 2.088 valves don't fit on a 305.

Poncho, what rearend did you have? I dont want to get 3.73 because that would really kill me in gas milage. I figure a 3.27 would be good for both milage and performance.

Hey dood!

Yeah, I have the 3.73's, but with the OD gear, I've always gotten 20-25 mpg, even stuffing my foot in the middle of the carb sometimes!

Comes with a whole slew of **** too, adj. Hotchkis panhard bar, BMR lower control arms, KYB's, T/A girdle cover, brand new posi (barely 600 miles on it!), alum. driveshaft, 1LE rear discs!!, great rubber (maybe 2 or 3 thousand miles) on the front, etc., etc., etc.!

Let me know...
Paul

and u want $1800 for all? Im currious of what gas milage and also what top speed i could reach with those 3.73's. I have had a gas milage problem for a while but i think its my fuel filter. I'll have to change that but i dont know if ill need the rearend first or not. I want my car to be able to do 140 but still do really good around town and at the strip. I also dont have $1800, i lost my job a little bit ago and i could probably only afford up to $800? Depending on what my parents would do.

if you have OD, it shouldn't be bad at all, i just switched to 3.42's and my gas milage so far (2 tanks) has been better than it was with the 3.08's

Actually, now it's closer to $1500 (willing to deal) and I have a bunch of other miscellaneous stuff that would go with. It just needs to get gone! Sooner = better! Make an offer, let's dicker!

In the bigger scheme of things, there won't be a huge difference between 3.73's, 3.42's, OR 3.27's, mileage or otherwise.
There IS a bigger difference in SOTP feel between 3.73's and say 2.73's, mileage will probably suffer too, but I have another theory on that! (You like the greater acceleration so much that you get on it more often than not, so THAT'S why the mileage goes down! Not simply because of the gears!)

Anyway, let me know if you are interested, maybe we could set up a meet, or, whatever!

All goes together!! Buy a rear, drive it away! (just think of all the spare parts too!)

Hell, the entire front end suspension is all still fairly new, PST (polygraphite) and Moog components, new brakes, braided Earl's brake lines, you name it, it's probably on there!

Easily $2500 worth of stuff and labor into it!

Only problems I'm aware of, besides the body work that is, is that the driveline still kinda vibrates at about 60-70 mph because the driveshaft needs better balancing, and the tranny still has problems shifting (5th to 4th, etc.) It DOES shift fine when you get it going, but it has "quirks"!

You can pm or call later this eve. if you want to chat about it.

Man! That's too bad, I would think it would fairly easy to swap the stuff off of it that you wanted, then just sell it off for whatever, you know, win-win!

Let me know if you change your mind (or it is allowed to be changed!) or... if you have a buddy that NEEDS a runnin', drivin' project car!!! (this was my daily driver for about a year! Definitely reliable!)
