Personally I wouldnt pay more than 5 for the car since the car has some major paint chipping on the hood

 

Some Decades ago I was told ... A car is only worth the price a seller will accept and the price the buyer will offer. It's always easy to lower the price, but almost impossible to raise the price.

I think the convertible is not going to draw "Big Dollar" interest as a daily driver?

I think as a "Nice Weather" / "Sunday Driver" or maybe as a "ROOSTER-Mobile" for a hot summer night on the town ... there could be a buyer? Some people have more money than "CENTS"

IMHO something is only worth what someone is willing to pay. I can refuse to sell a rock from my backyard for less then a million dollars, however that does not make it worth that much. That convertible is so overpriced that I can't image he is getting any positive response from the ad. There is someone to be said for not being able to go higher, but when you are out of the ballpark to start with nobody will even contact you because they know you won't take 6+k off the price, even if that is all it is worth.

 

I told him he would be lucky if he got 4 right now, Heck I just put almost 8k in to my iroc & I know Until its painted & looks nice agan its not going to be worth more than 2k.

 

I agree, the convertible is over priced. I was not trying to defend the seller for such an outrageous price. Maybe this guy is speculating he has some kind of "Back to the Future" collectors car?

I've owned some cars decades ago that are now worth outrageous sums of money ... 1969 Chevelle SS with the 396 / 375 HP engine and at the time was rust free and all numbers matched! Heck the Chevelle was only 8 years old when I bought it. The Chevelle had well over 100,000 miles on it when I sold it, and I was double damn lucky to get $1000 for it in 1980 when I sold it. I also owned a 1969 Camaro with a 275 HP 350 and was 10 years old when I sold it for $650. I've owned a 1979 Corvette with the L82 engine (same engine as the 1978 Corvette Pace Car) that was only 2 years old when I sold it for $11,400.

All I'm gona say about these former cars I've owned is it really sucked owning these vehicles with a National Speed Limit of 55 MPH! After several speeding tickets for just haulin a$$ at a now legal 65 - 70 MPH, I could no longer afford the then outrageous insurance rates of $150 a month. Besides all that, in the late 70's everyone wanted a "Smokey and the Bandit" Trans Am. Those old Chevelles and old Camaros were not "The Thing" to have as a "get a date-mobile" in the late 70's.

I could see a sale price of 7K if their are none for sale within a 1000 mile radiuse. The interior color will drive the price down. That red color turns to pink quickley, GM should not allowed it to be an option. I bought this convertible for 4.5K from a guy that owned it from 1991 to time of sale and he lived 10 miles from me.

can I tell you something?

YOU will never get 13k for that car, for one its not even a 20 footer. for 2 13k is for a car that is in SHOW room shape with maybe 100mikes on it NOT 116k mile on it.
you may get 4 out of the car, Heck I paid 5 for my 350 car 8 yrs ago, & just paid 11k for a 90 corvette with 80k miles on it.

3rd gens right now are all over the net for sale, you cant get rid of them fast enough. Go talk to guys over on TGO (www.Thirdgen.org) & they will tell you the same thing. The car is NOT worth what you are asking for it. Hood paint is chipping & it doesnt even have leather seats. so its not totally loaded.
