I'm going to sound really stupid, but...
what kind of intercooler is that? I thought I was keeping track of your project, but I must've missed out on the intercooler part. If it's air-to-air, where are the fins? Or is it an air-to-water intercooler?

Duh,
Jon

It is an air to water. Im going to put a holding tank in the back of the car. You mix ice water in it and then use a pump to pump water to and from the cooler. The two fittings on the intecooler are 3/8" NPT and are the water inlets and the other side is a 3/4" NPT outlet for return to the tank.

Hey Guido,
In what position is the intercooler going to sit in the car? Is the water going to flow from top to bottom or side to side? Thanks

The water will flow from top to bottom.

The air inlet and outlet are going to point straight at the ground. A 3" pipe will go under the lower core support and into the bottom of the intercooler. Then a 4" pipe will come out of the other end, snake over to below the drivers side battery tray, and then up into the engine compartment. I have a pin on hood so I dont have a hood latch support anymore. Im putting the intercooler under there.

Guido,

that's awesome :hail:
that will be the least expensive hp you'll have in the project. by cooling down pressured air effectly with carefully designed intercooler, in this size of vehicle power plant, it makes a big difference in rear wheel horse power. probably simply more fun

ice cooled intercoolers are i think someone used it 20 years ago and results were world record

I love liquid to air intercoolers, we like to use DEX cool and watter wetter. we like our coolant sumps with big openings at the top to drop dry ice into. lowers the coolant to sub zero temps makes the thing frost over, but unlike regular ice (from water) doesnt thin out the 99.9% dex wetter mix, it just evaporates and vents out. talk about torque.

evans coolant

I wonder if using EVANS coolant would help compared to regular water or anti freeze? since it suppose to be very good for removing heat? I wonder if you could run it with dry ice? I know you can't mix water with the evans. What HP level can the intercooler support?

Wouldn't you want to feed the intercooler water from the bottom to burp out any air? I know that ATI does it that way on their marine kits to keep the intercooler core full of water. Just a thought.

as far as the evans NPG goes I have been wondering myself but the ethelene glycol based stuff with water wetter seems to be geting the job done, Im not sur how much guidos intercooler will support but as far as tose available on the market "the sky is the limit" (see blownbird's igloo in the "show your power adder thread"), as far as which end guido has decided will be "up" on his intercooler will make the air pocket call besides if he needs he could always install one of those little cooling system air bleed screws on top of it

Class where?

There arent a lot of places that allow a turbo with my type of car. And I only have a large single turbo on mine. Not twins.

I can run any number of small races that spring up around. Like single race shootouts that allow single power adders and such.

OSCA (Outlaw Street Car Association) www.oscaracing.com I can race Modified Street with them. It is only 1/8 mile racing and the cars are pretty fast. the guy pretty much at the top of the game runs mid to lower 5's in the 1/8th which is getting it. Id be lucky to break into the 5's PERIOD in the 1/8th.
