Question about Nitrous

I have a 1987 iroc 305 tpi 700r4 and i want to put
nitrous in it. I want to put a 75-150 shot of nitrous in it and have never done it before, I could probly put the kit from nx in myself but i was wondering if i would have to change the pistons to forged or if I could use the stock pistons. oh and the engine has edelbrock tes headers and edelbrock catback with a dynomax hiflow cat. except that it is stock Thanks

I've been running a 100 shot in my '85 IROC for a couple months now and it's worked out very well. I have the NOS TPI system.

I would not go much higher than a 125 shot on the 305. Take a few degrees of timing out and run a step colder spark plug and you will be in buisness. Just make sure your fuel and ignition systems are in good working order.

Ditto on the last post. I'd play it even safer and not go over 100 shot. The 305 has a smaller bore and doesn't dissapate the "hit" as well as a 4.000"+ bore can.

Hell, I'm only spraying 100 shot on my crate motor.

my stock (bone stock)
305 out of a 90 camaro lasted a whole year on 100 horse of spray

it lasted si full passes and about 450 feet on the seventh on 200horse(approx)

i had 6 deg timing retard and two step colder plug with alot of fuel pressure

i wouldn't recomend this but
its up to you

the blazer (yes blazer) s10 style it was in went 12.33 @108 mph
three times

then it blew its gutsa out.
then again i was trying real hard to break it too!!!!!!

my bone stock 90 IROC with 73,000 miles on it at the time was running 2 years, and well over 30 bottles of 150 HP frost through it, still runs like a top to this very day, l sold it to a girl l go to school with, still no complaints whatsoever. it ran a pathetic 15.4 best @ 89 MPH and on spray made me wear a helmet @ 13.4- 104 MPH. no timing retardation, special plugs/wires, or fancy ignition, just bone stock GM stuff.

Similar to what everyone else said, my 305 had over 200,000 when I first sprayed it, and I have run a 120 shot through it for a long time with no adverse effects. Still purrs....
