The Ultimate Power Adder

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33742

You gotta love e-bay

What do starter motors rev at? Like 3000 rpm? What do turbos rev at? Like 250,000 rpm! I'm absolutely speechless! Part of me wants this to work, but the other part wants to start shooting stuff because this is sooo stupid.

hahahaha, i needed that, i am having a bad day at work LMAO, that is too funny.

on second though.... i am good friends with one of the leading designers of brushless electic motors, what kind of RPM and power would it really take to spin a turbo fast enough to be effective?

it isn't nessisarily the power required to spin a turbo, but power needed to increase the pressure.

after doing some quick calculations....with a temp of 40 degrees, flowing 300 cfm and doing 10psi of boost, it would require a turbo to produce 53.92 hp at 100% efficiency. so an easy 60 hp for a "low boost" turbocharger.

i just had a thermo exam earlier so i think my math is right, but tell me if i am wrong

That's just silly. How much boost could you possibly get from a starter motor spinning the impeller? How about an oiling system? Starter motors are not designed to be on all the time, the motor would burn out in no time, then what? Grind all that TIG off and weld a new motor on?

actually, i wonder if the engine will actually suck in so much air that the compressor will actually drive the starter

Guys guys, it's obvious what this thing is meant to do. When your car is sitting at idle your throttle blades are closed or almost closed. This jobbie just pressurizes the tube between the turbo and the throttle body. Sure your idle will go up a bit, but imagine... you can have like 15 psi of boost in that inlet tube. Until you step on the gas that is. And bog the engine. Crap, i thought my idea was going somewhere too.

maybe it is an "active" version of that tornado thingy you put in your air intake to do whatever the hell it does.

Numbskulls!

For a real laugh, go to the bidders feedbacks and see what the last items they bought were. Here is an example One of the bidders bought this.
