NOS leaking over time!

I mounted my NOS bottle back where the spare tire was installed. I have the NOS branded remote bottle valve. The bottle over time leaks out. Does anyone have any suggestions in sealing the remote valve to the bottle? It has a plastic style gasket in the bottle valve.
thank you,
Mark

Retighten all your lines and use a sprayer with soapy water on all the fittings to find the possible leak.

I know where it is leaking. It is leaking where the bottle valve attaches to the bottle. I was just wondering if anyone is running into the same thing and if so what did they use to seal the fitting?
Teflon tape, pipe dope, or a new plastic washer each time they fill the bottle??

never use teflon tape, only liquid teflon paste.

Well, I had the same problem. I filled the tank and put it in my wifes wash tub and checked it like you would an inner tube and sure enough the bottle valve was leaking. I did not want to change the bottle valve so I bought a new plastic washer and an elect. valve. Now I leave the bottle valve open all the time. I think the new plastic washer did the trick.

I weighed my 10 lb. bottle that I had filled a month ago and there is only 6 lbs. left. Where did you get the plastic washer. What size is it?

you only lost 4 lbs in a month of having the main valve open the whole time? that is actually awsome.

Well, I bought my last plastic (teflon) washer (#16210NOS) when NOS was NOS but they were bought out by Holley. My bottle would leak around 1# a week. At $40 a bottle I fixed that in a hurry. Here are some numbers.

E-mail = NOS@holley.com

Tech Ser. = 1-714-546-0592

Fax = 1-714-545-8319

Ps: Like I said I also have a "Remote Bottle Control" that lets me turn the bottle on or off from the drivers seat. So I just leave the bottle valve on all the time and shut off the remote bottle control solnoid until I need it. Hasn't leaked since.

That's the same thing I was thinking. I'm sure mine leaks that much.. I'll never know..

Average time for a 15lb bottle to live is about a night, MAYBE 2.

No, the valve is shut. The bottle is not on the car and it is in the garage waiting to go onto the car. I really think that it the washer under the valve.
