Custom Fuel Cell

Ok my last thread was Hi jacked and then closed so i will restate my original question with more detail

I want to make a custom fuel cell to fit in a tight spot. Has anyone ever done this? or is it even worth it?

I want it resonably safe

You can find a wide variety of fuel cells to fit nearly any space.

in my opinion, making a fuel cell, unless you know exactly what you're doing (you're in the industry maybe) could be dangerous, and worse yet, illegal in organized racing

Fuel cells can be anything from the blow molded plastic RJS cells for $50 from Summit to cells that are well over $1k with fabricated aluminum tanks, multi-layer liners, and foam. It's not rocket science. If you were to make your own from aluminum, check with NHRA/SCCA rule books on specs, and follow them for your own safety. If you can weld well, you can make a decent cell. Drag racing cells are pretty simple, since there doesn't need to be baffling to keep fuel flowing to the pump in the corners. What's your plan?

What's wrong with the stock fuel tank? Convert the feed line to use a -AN fitting in the engine bay, and get a length of hose that'd you'd connect when you want to pump out the fuel. I would wire a switch to manually turn on the fuel pump, and simply pump whatever fuel is in there to 5 gallon fuel jugs.

Summit sells a cell made for street rods that I think will fit. Here is the link:

Thinking about doing this myself.
