EFI on carb intake.

I see Guido runs a carb manifold with bungs and some type of throttle body and I also see the car he is installing the turbos on does it in the same way. What computer is used here BTW I assume a 749?

Is this a more boost friendly system than say a Holley Stealth Ram? Is it just cheaper this way? How much is fuel line stock and about what does it cost to get bungs installed in an intake manifold? I know there are epoxy in bungs though that would be a bit too jerry rigged for me I think.

Any information would be much appreciated.

he is using the F.A.S.T. ecu. not necessarily cheaper, but way more tunable.

You can buy the bungs rails and injectors (pre-drilled) all from holley. You can drill the intake yourself. Just get all the holes in the right angle and spacing (Probably be best to use a drill press and a make a jig). When its set up properly take it down to your local welder and have him tig the bungs in.

There are a few carb style intakes available with cast in injector bungs you can buy.

I'm running a Victor Jr intake converted to multi-point. The stealth ram was not available when I put mine together. If I were to do this now, I'd choose the stealth ram over the converted carb setup because its a much cleaner looking install. In the one Dyno test I saw it made a few more horse power than the carb style intake it was tested against.

Either will work well with boost but in my opinion the stealth ram is better because you dont have to worry about an intake elbow or hat creating distribution problems.

As far as cost goes, look for the parts you need from holley and price ithem out with summit... call your local welder to see if they do tig and how much they charge for 1/2 hour of labor.

MSD, Kinsler, and Accel also make those bungs. I once remember hearing that some size of large AN fitting "tube sleeve" is just the right size too.

89ProchargerdROC,

which PTE elbow did you use?(90*or100*) and how big of a TB are you using? how close to the hood are you now after milling the .850" and with what manifold did you start with?

Thanks

Zac

GUIDO and others are running PRO ram..Its basically a victor JR intake with Fuel injector bungs already CAST into it...

I use the same one....with a Precision turbo 100 degree elbow and 90MM accufab TB....

No reason to make your OWN unless you NEED a HUGE dominator style intake... MY pro ram is Ported to a 1206 Intake gasket....Which is BIG.....But the 1206 is the LIMIT of the pro ram unless you WLED to it...

what do you guys think of the edlebrock fi setup? i have been considering this for a while now. does anyone know the limitations of the ecu and could it handle boost, if one so desired to do so? (we're only talking 5-10#)

this looks like a cheap fi setup for the beginner wanting to learn how it all works.

i'm not sure if its 90* or 100*, but i think its the 100*. im just using a little ole 65mm tb haha. Dont have the cash for a bigger one yet

we also milled down the top of the intake plenum as well. Dont remember how much, i have i think around 1.5-2" of room above the TB-under the stock hood which is including the heating insulation

reason i wanted to use the victor junior instead of the pro-ram is because it looks cooler () and i couldn't get a definitive answer on whether you could port the pro ram to a 1206 gasket (correctly)

From what Ive heard....the pro-ram was made off of the same base mold that the vic JR was... As far as porting it goes AN ALREADY PORTED VIC JR is 1205.... Which is what my pro ram was... So either way you have to grind like a mother...LOL

At least on mine a 1206 gasket is still SLIGHTLY SMALLER than the Flange on the manifold....So IM OK...The areas that I had to remove did not cut into the injector housing so Im OK there as well....but HONESTLY I would rather have started with a manifold CAST to a 1206 then done what I had to do to mine...

65MM TB with a 1206 intake gasket....Man that sucks.... When you make the switch to a 90MM or bigger you should see a nice incrase..

we'll see....when i get my motor together and some money i'll do a back to back run at the track comparing the two.

in reality it will only decrease my boost numbers, so i'll be curious to see by how much

What size did you have them make the elbow for????? if you have a 90MM elbow but a 65MM tb your boost loss will be NEGLIGIBLE... Actually even with the whole thing it would be as bad as you would suspect......

What PSI are you running now???

i bought the elbow from a friend, it was ported for 90mm

i dont have my motor running yet. I am not a big believer in huge TBs. Thats just me though

I do have some local friends around here with really big TBs so when my $hit finally gets running i can do a b2b run with a stock 65mm tb and a 90mm tb and we'll be able to see the amount of psi drop and if it is worth the investment

Who makes the pro-ram? I can't seem to find just the intake at Summit. Holley also makes one of these pre done intakes. Is this a cheaper method than making my own?

Also, if i bought fuel rail stock...say a holley universal 12 or 18 inch section, what needs to be done to it? Anything more than drill holes for the injectors and put the O rings in? mounting of course.

You all use PTE elbows...how much are these? Why don't you make your own? and whats their website?

Lots of questions lol

ACCELL makes pro ram...2 versions...a DFI version and accell version...CALL JEGS ask for dfi version....They are the same part but ACCEL version is BO...accelDFI version in stock...COMES with fuels rails

It comes with FUEL rails...BUT if you bought stock you need to Drill inj holes...then TAP the ends and add a/n fittings....PLUS drill some type of mounting holes...

PTE= Precision TURBO and engine.....JUST go to yahoo...type in precision turbo...and go to their website....BUT they dont list ELBOWS there...

Call them....also wilson manifolds sells them...

Why not make one....Because its 179 dollars to buy one that has the corrct square opening at the bottom....ad is PORT matched to a custom FORD accufab throttle body....

Id **** more money away than 179 trying to fab something as nice as this is...
