Positive displacement
quick question... i was thinking of getting a supercharger. does somebody make a positive displacement supercharger for a carbureted third gen? And if so, do they make one that fits under a stock hood?

i really dont know much about superchargers. i was just wondering if there was any kits that would fit under a stock hood made by any brand (not necessarily roots) for a p.d. blower

Probably not in positive displacement, about the only thing that would fit under the hood would be a centrifugal.

Well a positive displacement is a roots type supercharger. It's made so theres an inlet and outlet and the design is setup so the boost can not escape (easily). So everytime the blower turns it's putting out a certain amount of air.
Try using the search there are a bunch of members using the weiand type setup with serpentine with a small cowl.

Are not screw type chargers considered positive displacement? you could do the twin M90 setup under the hood.

Yes, twin screw types are positive displacement also. But from what I've read it would be a pita in the change an eaton type to make it suitable for a carb to sit on it. I guess he could always just run them before the carb. There's a member on the board somewhere that was running twins on a motor. I don't think it was in a 3rd gen though. He had them mounted on brackets over the valve cover areas. Basically going that setup would take some extra modification, but would be very neat once done.
Anyways whats the specs on the motor you're planning on adding a SC to?

On a stock 350 I would probably consider just a simple wieand bolt on setup. Like under the tech articles if you want a positive displacement. There's not really much need to go all crazy with it (like dual eatons) when you can only handle 4-6 lbs or so.
