which turbo's

ok this is the plan its not gonna be an overnight thing but this is what im planning, im going to build a 355 with 8.5:1 compression, trick flow 195 cc heads 2.02/1.6 valves, a xe284 hydraulic cam(284/296 - .507/.510 - (debating on going with a 750 holley, or tbi unit from a truck with better injectors, aftermarket prom) custom selfmade headers. with dd2000 and with a 750 holley with a t04b v-2 turbo,im assuming that dd2000 only takes into account that someone will only be using a single turbo, using 12 lbs of boost it made 622tq@5500 & 726hp@6500 my question is will that turbo 1. spool up pretty efficiently 2. is that hp&tq a reasonable amount to expect with that combo or is dd2000 very far off from actual numbers according to real world combo's that some of you have assembled in the past. 3. if that turbo isnt going to cut it for my 700-750 hp goal what turbo would be a btter choice. thanx for the help in advance as this will be going into my 89 firebird and i want to be able to run low 10's high 9's in the quarter.
thanx,

THOMAS

P.S. according to the turbo calculator over at www.turbomustangs.com twin t04e v trim would actually be the best turbo for my combo but of course dd2000 doesnt have that listed so i couldnt see the power i might make with those turbo's.

For a 350ci V8, TWO of the V2 trim T04Bs will be MUCH more efficient. For a single, go with at least a T76!

thank you

ok so now that i have that question out of the way, what about fuel? should i go with a properly modified holley 750 dp or should i rip a harness and TBI out of a truck with the appropriate sensors and use it. and also does that combo sound reasonable for the power that im expecting?

That is too much cam for a 350 with 8.5:1 It wont want to idle. I would look into a blower friendly cam on a 112 LSA.

yeah, your cam is HUGE.

lift aint bad, but try a xe274 or 276 i think, the one with 224/230 at .050" valve lift. that be pretty good.

Something in the neighborhood of 228/238 @ .050 with a decent amount of lift on a 112 LSA.

You'll probably want even or less exhaust duration and maybe a larger overlap on the cam. It's been discussed a few times.

I think it has too much exhaust duration. CompCams has a few mild off the shelf turbo cams. For reference, I've got a CompCams custom cam - Extreme hydraulic roller lobes, @.050, 236 intake, 230 exh, and 113 LS. Don't forget exhaust backpressure is about 1 to 2x boost pressure.

what about induction what would you all use and why, pro's and con's of each if you dont mind , i dont mind having to tune as long as it will be dependable and meets my expectations as far as reliabilty and power. also im still looking at cam profiles, just havent decided on 1 yet.

go back to dd2000 and put in the specs for a stock lt1 cam. do it with 1.5's and 1.6's. lets see what kind of diff. it makes. i think you will be suprised.
