What year throttle body to use

I am building an intake and I need to buy a throttle body for it. I need to use a lt1 TB for clearance reasons but I don't know what year to use. Any suggestions? Anybody have a used one for sale? Can I get away with a 52mm or do I need a 58?

If you are using a twin you need to use a 58mm at the very least for that 406. I like to use the 112-506 holley as it has the smooth linkage, made out of billet, and uses tpi sensors.
Can you run a round one and just set it down?

I want to use a round one, but my t stat housing is too tall. I'm using a Meziere billet one and I spent too much money on it last year to go back to an ugly stock one. I could fit a round TB if I made the plenum taller, but I don't want too much volume. I've got it figured at around 260 cubic inches now. It will also look funny if it is any taller.

I'm going to be using a Haltech standalone fuel box if that makes a difference.

I am not looking forward to spending that much cash on a TB, ouch.

edit: How is that HSR working for you? I wanted one, but my truck is bodydropped and it won't fit.

I like the round holley TBs. Can anyone get some mounting flange measurements for me?

I am planning on putting a 76gts on this next winter, so it would be easier to have the round hole for plumbing purposes also.

Actually all my research says you want the same cubic" as your engine, so don't worry about being to big as you probably won't ever be.

I got rid of the stealth ram as my engine needs more airflow than it could support without major mods. Go to my gallery and click on the cutlass for pics of the new manifold i am doing.

I just bought a Holley 95mm round throttle body. Not for the inexpeirenced though as i needed to add my own IAC passages. It measures 3.5' square for the bolt holes. and a 4.750"x5" mounting plate. The actual ID is 3.740".
There are pics of this also.

Why? Boost will overcome a lot of evils… If you have a stocker, run a stocker, it will work fine till well past insane power levels (at least for the street and in most people’s minds at the track). If you’re going to spend money on one then you might as well go with whatever is biggest in the price range you’re willing to pay, since there really won’t be a “too big” one for this application either… it’s just not as important as most people think it is, especially boosted

I think that we pretty much agree there, nutshell, what I said: If you have something now don't worry about it, use it, if you don't then buy the biggest one in your price range...

I may have to try a $25 stock one before I buy $500 billet one. I am going to run one more year NA to get the DFI tuned, so I would hate to lose HP to a stock TB.

I think a stock TB will hold 700 forced HP, but will it make 500 natural HP? I don't know. I guess vacuum readings at WOT will tell me.

I just bought a brand new Holley billet 58mm for a 93 LT1 on ebay for $280. I also bought a stock one from someone in the classifieds to get the sensors. I may do a back to back test, but I doubt it.
