TPI Nitrous Plate Q

the plate that bolts to the throttle body, does the coolant system have to be drained when inserting the plate?

the fuel supply can be tee'ed off the sharder valve?

i am looking at either kit, the NOS and Nitrous works
any preference of one over the other?

i'll probably get all those other little gadgets as well like gauges, heater, blanket, rpm switch etc.

the decision is either for this year or next year.

anyone have good results with either kit or another one?

has anyone used the new NOS bottle opener?

If I had to choose, I'd go w/ NOS. But I prefer NX.

You will be able to put the plate in without draining the coolant.
I would also go with the NOS 5151 kit. I like it. Whatever you do I would stear away from a dry set up, I think the wet set ups are much safer. You will love the spray.

yeah i personally like NOS stuff, at least from a looks prospective

the NX kit i do not belive it is a wet kit
the 5151 is, plus i can get her all the gadets with it too
but i think i'll wait a little while
i'd like to get a high flow y pipe first

and believe it or not, the kit is for her, but i've been thinking about a plate system for my 79 TA, just don't know if i have the time to install it.

thanks for the info

THe NX kit is a wet kit. However they do not offer the plate. On another note the solenoids are alot better.

I have never had any trouble with my NOS solenoids. What kind of things should I look out for?

I also installed the NOS kit. But you really need a bottle heater and a fuel pressure saftey switch. I also installed the purge valae kit. Now it just smokes the fat 16". So, I need to get a window switch in the system.

I have the nitrous master mind, and it helps off of the line. I run BFG drag radials and spray right off the line. The car hooks rather well. I was pulling off 1.75 60' times.

What kind of times are you getting with the plate set-up. I just bought one yesterday for a 150 shot. I have a mildly modified 305 tpi. Just rough estimates I am @14.8 1/4 mile times.

If you get it to hook up you are looking at low 13s. I have ran a 13.1 @ 101.6.

You would be better off with the nx system. I have run both the nos and nx system on my tpi car. The nos system is a good unit, but it does have some flaws. The one issue is the distribution with the plate. Cylinder 1 and 2 tend to run leaner than the rest due to the spray going past the runners in theside the plenum. Also the solenoids are not great at all. The use powershot solenoids which dont seem to last long. I had gone through 1 nos solenoid a year for 2 years. They dont warranty them either.

The nx stuff is great in my opionion. It is a wet system that uses a single nozzle which you can spray up to 200 with no distribution problems on a tpi car. "the nozzle will actually handle 250" It gets fuel from the shrader valve and comes with the supplied line. The nozzle mounts in the intake tract boot, about 4 in in front of the tb. The fuel and nitrous has already become a mixture before entering the tb, this is one reason it tends to run safer on all cylinders, and does not overshoot cylinders 1 and 2
