2.8 V6 proformance
Ok I know a 2.8 V6 moter aint awhole lot, but I was wondering are there turbos for these types of moters and other proformance parts?
I have a 1989 firebird. and I want to gain some HP on that small engine.
and maybe a better trans, because mine slips.

To all the above. I am in full support of loving what you have and even of playing with it a little to get more power. But seriously guys. Do you have any idea how easy it is to swap in a V8? Your V6 chassis is no different than my IROC chassis. Just swap in V8 springs and youll be fine.
As far as the V6s youre talking about go, the 2.8 is a grenade already. You definitely dont want to make it rev higher. And with so few cubes, revving higher is the only way it will make more power.
The 3.1 was an update of the 2.8. Slightly more durable, but still a tiny motor. Why spend money building either. Small block chevys are cheap and plentiful. HP parts for small blocks are cheap and everyone makes them.
Dudes, if you want to build power, start with a V8.

Another good site to check up on is fiero.nl. The Fiero came with the same engine so there are tons of info on power adders there. Also, if you want to replace the engine and keep it looking stock, you can swap in a 3.4 from a 4th gen. Same engine block a week end project that will get you 20hp and there is a guy named truleo who makes a HUGE intake plenum for it or the 2.8. Great product. I've dinked around on Fieros for years but needed more room for kids. Great info and people over there. Good luck

I agree with ASE. And for anyone who thinks they can build a turbo system for a car, and basic motor swap should be easy. I use to be a V6 guy. I had a 96 Firebird with the 3.8 I was all about building it to show the V8 guys what the V6 can do. Then, luckly before I spent any real money, I woke up and realized it was a waste. I then got the Camaro I have now and never looked back.

I cringe whenever I hear claims about the 2.8 being a grenade. I've been trying to destroy mine and so far it hasn't happened. https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/v6/5...vastation.html

you can make power with a v6 is it easy...no, but if thats a route someone wants to go then dont bash on them
they dont blow up nearly as easy as you think, 7000rpms is no problem. starting with a 2.8 is the hard way but it is possible
