You want the straightest path possible in blow-thru applications, as the less curve area in the runners the better in terms of one area possibly running leaner than another. Dual planes can be made to work, but at high RPM it's literally a house of cards waiting to come down....

By the way Dave, Englishtown Swap Meet is coming up soon, could probably get my hands on a used single plane in great shape for like $25.00 if you need one....

Re: best intake for blowthrew carb setup?

I'm not familar with forced induction, but I am familar with the Torker II and the Vic Jr. I would not go with the Torker II. On my NA motor I noticed a huge difference when I switched from the Torker II to the Vic Jr. As soon as I put it on, the car would barely idle. I had to retune the carb and change the timing. I'm guessing this was from a drop in velocity in the airflow due to the runners being almost twice as big and the much bigger plenum area. Also, if your looking for as straightline as possible, the the Torker II does not do that. It has a good curve to it.

Heres a pic of the two next to each other.

You hit the nail right on the head, as going too large in terms of runners, and even carburetor cfm for that matter, will cause a loss in differential pressure. Nice pics by the way, as I forgot what the Torker II looked like because its been so long since I seen one....

Re: best intake for blowthrew carb setup?

some of the guys on ttf.com are recomending i sticck with say an performer air gap dual plane manifold given the cam specs and the stock converter

another member is telling me to go with a wieand team g cause it starts to make power around 2k

the way i look at it the hybrid turbos should be well spooled up around 3k and prolly start to spool around 2300-2500

so i quess ill just go with one of the smaller single planes even though this combo isnt going to rev that high prolly put the upper rpm chip in at 5,800-6000 considering its a bone stock l98 witht he exception of intake and carb

i prolly wont be able to use it since its been ported, can u take a measurement of the port were it meets the head for me, i have a feeling its going to be much larger then the stock l98 port.i know what ever i go with is prolly going to be mismatched a lil on port sizes but im trying to keep it to the minimum difference for now, since i dont have any plans of taking the heads off to port them

edit

also who ported it, was it a shop or just home done?
