Intake Temps under full boost??

Woundering what some of your guys intake temps are at when under full boost in the 1/4 mile or just when your under boost for a good 10-15 seconds. Im getting a 30-40 degree* temp rise when under 10psi of boost for 14 seconds...Is that somewhat normal?? My intercooler isnt the best. These numbers are on a 65* day...today. Im not having problems with spark knock or anything, but I just wanted to know what kind of rise you guys get under full boost.

Its 28x7x2 1/2" (tube in fin design). I was thinking of changing up the airdam so that it will guide the air into the IC better. Any ideas on that.

I usually see a 5-10° IAT increase.

Re: Intake Temps under full boost??

OK thanks for the reference, I need to re-route my intake air to the turbo, its just sucking in warm air and that raises the Intake temp by 10-15* from ambient right there, underhood temp are killing me.

See...this set up for getting cooler air really is bad isnt it???

the air filter location isn't ideal, but plenty of BIG power car's pull air from under the hood like that.

The fact that you have mild steel charge pipe is going to be more of an issue, it just will not dissipate heat like aluminum will. It will also heat soak much worse.

Intake temps are steady at 10 degrees above ambient when driving arround yesterday in town and such. It was a little over 70 degrees outside.

I know its not the Ideal chargepipe though..

I also use steel intake tubing. But I have the air filter on the underside of the battery tray so it’s not pulling any warm air.

If you're having issues with underhood temps then a blanket for the turbine may not be the worse thing to look into with that setup. A bit of sheet metal can help you isolate the air intake off from the under hood temps too.

I though of running it into the pass side fender, looks like it would get alot of fresh air there.

Happend to have a picture to helps me get some ideas?
