This is why I didn't agree with it. I advanced my cam to take advantage of the Tuned Port Injection intake, smaller valves, lower stall, and lower RPM ability. I needed to enhance my torque curve. You are running a big turbo, better flowing heads, better flowing intake, and much higher stall, which would negatively impact your setup if you advanced the cam. Just set it straight up for the time being...
its at true straight up ,not just installed out of the box which would have 4+ advance built in , later this year after i get the car out some i may try it back at 0* installed to see how it reacts, i never did get my 2 piece cam cover installed so it would be a pita to change it right now

Sounds damn good for an initial start up (to me). I'd say the base tune is close anyway. Looked a little rich, but that's always better than a little lean!

Get it rolling.

Best of luck - Jim

Are you freaking drilling the hood for those hood pins latches after you painted it?

i am only making test passes at the track , it snowed here last night so there is 0 chance of me getting the car out on the road to try to make sure the tune is close enough to make full passes,

witht he snow i will have 0 drive time to try to tune it so everything will have to be done at the track , and i will not risk hurting the motor by making a full pass till i know the tune is good enough

lol i have 2 days , and any road i could use for testing is one thats a pretty deserted road which means it wont get plowed, friggen high of 40 today and a low of 9*

should be in the 70's at the track down south , its not really a watse of money and im pretty sure the tune should be close just wont know for sure till i can get the car out , im also running a bike down there , so either way im going to have fun between the bike and the car

I would do dyno time to start. Very helpful and not just for airfuel and power. Can listen to noises, check for leaks, etc. monitor more things staying still than going down the track. Its not uncommon to see a leak from tranny vent or some oil somewhere that would never see on the track.

i agree and as overly cautious i am with new stuff i just cant get to a dyno so ill have to do it atthe track at my own pace , im prettyy sure i can get a or some full passes in barring some major tuning issues

You do any tuning at all? Idle, driveway moving around type stuff, cold start/hot start? Is base file close? Heat cycles

As long as everything seems to be doing ok, i suppose its ready. I just always use street to do some quick pulls. Nothing major, just short stuff. You can extrapolate from there

yeah it shouldnt take long at the track i could street drive it normal as is , but with the snow and wet roads i wouldnt even think about giving it a good hit of the throttle right now

Yeah not gonna make any real decent pulls on wet roads but still even spinning for a second you can tell air fuel in boost to make sure its atleast safe and ready. Hope it clears up out there and you can get some seat time.

its going to be rich in the midrange , and prolly lean on the top end , with the big difference in the cam's , im going to throw 10% added fuel at it from were it is in the upper ranges and work from there .

i have moved it around a bit and low end is pretty close , need to work on cold start but thats not an issue for the track

You picked a horrible location to do a build, definitely don't mess around if you got snow over there. Weather has been great on this side, we're still seeing 70 degrees everyt now and then. It's a shame your not here bro, Atco is redone, went down there with some friends to watch the PR guys throw down, those mother effer's are no joke, fast as fawk, even Street Outlaws got a taste. You would have had a great time with us bro. Economy is picking up, Joisey is calling you lol...

Re: Single turbo 352 iroc 1000hp or bust the grand finale

spent the morning wiring up my gauges , and checking over oil lines fuel lines etc .
need to pick up some fine thread bolts for the converter , alls i can get locally in stock was 3/8's course thread , i know they will loosen up so i will stop at fastenal on the way to the track and swap them out at the track.

my last big task is to build ramp extensions for the trailer , all we have is a big 5thwheel construction trailer that we use to haul hay bails on and a smaller hay bail trailer , need really long ramps on either to get a f-body up on the trailer

was uspposed to borrow my buddies uncles trailer but hes going racing at the same place this weekend

edit not sure what im more excited for #1 seeing the car out in the sunlight and all washed up , #2 racing the damn thing or #3 running the bike , though i wish my turbo bike was done im sure that thing would be a blast

If you don't make the race then you don't make it, I'm sure the fella's here are happy for you either way. Why not set your sights on dyno tuning if you don't make the track, how far are you from FNP in Utah...?

lol patience , cars not registered right now or id be driving it all over town taking vids , i though about going and registering it yesterday but its pointless this close to winter , so ill get some good vids and stuff down at the track , once march rolls around ill have the car back on the road and then ill have **** tons of fun and take lots of videos with it

though my bike project may sidetrack me a lil bit, this lil turbo bike project i think is going to drive me to buy another street bike this spring

Re: Single turbo 352 iroc 1000hp or bust the grand finale

ramps are 90% done car should go right up on the trailer , ill finsh them up in the morning , well late morning i have to go grab a 5kw generator out of the storage unit first thing int he morning

my pair of 400lph pumps showed up since i have an access door in the hactch area and can swap pumps out in 10 mins or less ill swap the pumps out at the track and ill have to reset the hobbs switch for the second pump at a higher psi , main reason for the pump swap is for alky/e-85 in the future

ill post up some pics when i find the cable for my phone

like i said no matter what im going racing this weekend, and this is what its going to take to get my car on the trailer i have available to use

its what we had laying around the farm , im not worried about it its 10inch wide steel I-beam they are friggen heavy , i will have support legs under it so it cant flex at all .

oh yeah to scared to drive the car up and down off the trailer so were winching the car on and off the trailer instead

Can't believe you're even considering that. All I hear in my head right now is the theme music to the Benny Hill show when looking at those pics lol. Don't mess up that damn paint...!!!!!

Edit: Does that flatbed at least come out and down, or is it just stationery...?

This is why I didn't agree with it. I advanced my cam to take advantage of the Tuned Port Injection intake, smaller valves, lower stall, and lower RPM ability. I needed to enhance my torque curve. You are running a big turbo, better flowing heads, better flowing intake, and much higher stall, which would negatively impact your setup if you advanced the cam. Just set it straight up for the time being...
I just had to tear my turbo car back down due to a -4 retarded can causing excessive egts and melting everything under the hood. I had it that way when n/a due to stock tune ports really like it and helps stuff a restrictive intake. On old setup picked up 5 mph with retarded cam. The turbo hated it. Made good power just ill affects all around. Did a lot of research as hated to tear back apart and found grand national guys ran into same issue playing with cam timing it changes something with exhaust so bad it causes reversion and too much heat. Read about this over and over before tore it down and yes it fixed it going back to straight up on cam.

functionality should be good with a 10" i-beam i would think. main thing about them is weight and moving/hauling them around. i will say i drove my s-10 pickup onto a trailer like that using the stock short ramps, so it might not take all that much ramp to get a camaro on it?

it shouldnt take a whole lot of extension to get the car on , i made the extensions long on purpose though so we could use them for other things if need be on the other taller trailer , for this trailer i prolly only need to hook the front of the extension on halfway up the ramps that are attached to the trailer .

Were you running 30-psi of boost pressure right out of the gate?

Why are the valve covers off in the pic, setting valve lash?

Did you at least nab any vids prior to the broken drievshaft...?
