H2O Injection or Intercooler

I am slowly getting ready to add an ATI-D1SC and was curious as to whether you guys run the H2O injection in addition to...or as a substitute for the Intercooler?

-------
EDIT:
-------

I tried to DELETE this post because it appears that it the H2O injection is used in conjuction with the intercooler. Both the Aquamist and the Carroll setups look good. Does anyone have anything +/- to say about either one?

In case anyone is interested it looks as though this was discussed some time ago, about using the Intercooler in conjunction with the H2O Injection:

There is a lot of information to be had on the Grand national board. a lot of different opinions and thoughts on it. take a look at

http://www.turbobuick.com in the message boards under alcohol injection

If you plan on purchasing the D1SC kit, it includes a three-core intercooler. It's obvious how effective this intercooler is from observing my air temps before and after it. Add to this the water/alcohol injection and it further reduces the air temps. Look at the link above for specifics. It was my post from last year.

Hi,

I have heard of water injection but I have not clue what it is, what it explain does, nor what it looks like.

Could someone explain and put some pics up, Thanks =)

As Willie said, there is a lot of information in the link I provided above. It is a thread that he started last year.

Also there was a thread yesterday that had some good links to the manufacturers' web sites (i.e Carroll, Aquamist & SMC) which provide most of the information you will need.

Additionally I would check out the turbo buick board, as mentioned above. So in summary, here are a few links to get you started. Just click on the links and you should have plenty of reading material:

Intercooler vs. H2O Injection (started by Willie last year)
Water Injection (by Bobolos)
Turbo Buick

Thanks to all who have contributed to this topic as this is new stuff to me. I am only curious if any 3rd genners can comment +/- on the Aquamist setup?

Thanks,

-Jason

Its not that we don't want to help you, its just that there is so much information out there it is hard to sumarize it all for you. I looked at 4 links when I did the research on it and had over 42 printed pages of reading material when I was done.

no, its ok

I found some links of it on my own also. =)

But still, I don't think it is a good idea to inject water into an engine =p

thats just me though:lala: :lala: :lala:

Injecting water into the engine can be good if you need to reduce intake temps. it is better if you inject something with a lower vapor pressure than water at the intake air temp. alcohal works well because it has a lower vapor pressure or boiling point than water. However running alcohal can make the engine go rich.

hehe =D

I always wanted a drunk engine

I think alcohol would had a ton more horsepower than water, it is just adding more fuel,

How long are the injections systems subpost to last on a filling, I say a few systems with 3 gallon tanks, how long will that last?

thanks:hail: :hail: :hail:

Alcohol can make more hp than water, but you've got to remember that the energy held in alcohol is only half that of gasoline, so you have to burn twice as much to get the same power level. You'd also need to add enough air to burn the extra fuel. It will raise octane level's though so less worry of detonation.
Check out this link, it will gives some good specifics on what you can do with alcohol injection.
