Seniroity..how ever you spell that

I think that people with 0 -100 post should be Jr Members, 101-750 should be Members and 750 above should be Senior members...and for ppl like Mark(POST *****::cough: with above like 8000...Super Members...lol just something to think about...we have a few ppl running around that don't know alot and are senior members....just sorta put in nothing messages...i think when peopl see Senior Member it should mean that they know something about our cars...you know? i dunno i am rambling.

I think you contradicted yourself. Saying people with more than 750 posts should be Sr members, then you say there are people with more than that , that are Sr members, and yet they don't know much.

Well, what about new members who know stuff about cars? I mean, not all people with 10 posts know nothing about cars. For example, Fatal88. He's the guy who has redone his IROC 4 times. Went from hardtop to t-tops to a convertable. Swapped out the engine for an LT1, and now is swapping the LT1 for an LS1. Also put in a 4th gen interior and made it look stock. A total genius, but he has less than 100 posts. He knows a hell of a lot more than other people on the site. I'll use me as an example. I have 3600 or whatever posts, but I don't know nearly as much as he does.

So basically, post count doesn't always go hand in hand with knowledge.

Since when did being verbose have anything to do with being competent? The value of each post is in the ability of the author to give advice that advances the ultimate goal of improving our cars. To that end, it is possible for a new member to greatly contribute with his very first post to helping someone else with a problem. A high number of posts just means that person writes alot. It doesn't mean they have any idea they what they're writing about. For that matter, it doesn't mean they don't. It just means they write alot. Posts does not equal expertise.

I agree

Can't go by how many post to make things change. And if you are unsure of a member rather there Sr. Or Jr or moderator and etc, just keep asking around till you feel things make since to yourself, or what ever works best for you. Of course there will always be people rather they know a lot about F-bodys or other makes rather they, don't know a lot or do, They will say what they will make out of what comes from there mind. Some times it's a not a big deal sometimes it leads to a bunch of mess.

just because i may not know something doesn't mean i don't know someone who does know it.

ask any of the mods if you have a question, we'll do the best we can to help you out.

Membership time doesnt work either: A new guy to the board who has been here only a month or so or even less, might know more than one who has been here a year or so. It's like BrandenCali said " just keep asking around" you know if you dont think your getting the right answer, then you can always ask a moderator. I have seen and been answerd by them to questions I have had. It's hard to name members by any other means except by the amount of post. And then It doesnt really count for all that much. Look at thier rides vs. amount of post vs. time on the board vs. they wat they reply. All in all I dont think you or anyone else is going to take word from this board as WORD. If someone says yes it will work if you do it, you again are going tocheck another resource before you do it. Arent you ? I alway dbl. check anybodys word on anything 2 or 3 times before I do somthing unless I feel confident on what I was told was correct. Sometimes it's easier than others. Judgement call. There have been many times we have all done somthing that we werent sure of and made a judgement call as such. And without going any farther and repeating myself I'll end here.

I kinda new to the message boards even though I signed up a long time ago I have just recently been getting into the boards and man are these a great Idea. Anyway I would like to know what the levels of members are...Jr, senior etc. and what it takes to get to each level? thanks

Also this is for anyone who knows. I have seen alot of members with a website and I was wondering if thirdgen.org supplies websites for its members or do they just have there out and link it to the site??? If they are just linking it I would like to know what webpage supplier would be best for FREE..

I'm sittin' on 12XX posts and knowledgable on brakes (1LEs) and suspension, but don't know diddly about ECMs or other-than-basic fuel injection. I had to learn about the brakes and stuff when I rebuilt the car and went to the 1LEs.

Maybe we could post "Brake Guru" or "Engine Tech" under the avitar or something to denote what guys know about...make it optional of course. Maybe a list in each forum of guys to contact with the basic questions to help reduce the number of REPEATEDLY asked questions....."What gears do I have?"

I dunno......

I agree with ebmiller88, we should have something along those lines like a specialty under their member status. Like he was saying, I could answer just about any exhaust question, but don't know a thing about TPI.

That is possible. You'll have to ask a moderator or someone. cause I'm clueless here too.

I think they upped it from 100 to 150. You must have signed up after they changed it and he reached 100 before they changed it. Its nothing special anyway.
