Q about regional boards and classifieds...

I know classifieds should be posted in the classifieds. But is it acceptable to post a link to a classified ad on the regional boards? If we can do this, guys in or around your region will know first-hand when someone is buying/selling stuff. This way, it would prevent your buddy who lives in your town (or region) an opportunity to see what you have for sale before you ship to someone across the country.

I myself am considering selling some parts and I'd like to give some local guys first dibbs before I sell to someone cross country. Is a post linking to your classfied ad allowed on the regional boards?

i don't see a problem or conflict with putting a link or line in your sig if it's personal and not a buisness. if a "for sale" thread was posted on one of my boards i'd consider it in volation of the rules.

I miss the search by State in the classifieds section.

so much easier to see whats for sale in you area.

i don't see anything wrong with this. as long as the parts have been posted in a tgo classified ad, then it's perfectly ok to post a link in the regional board.

but i'm in agreement with md and bts..... we need a state search BADLY. i'd like to see the ad force you to put even a state location in as a posting requirement.

i very much agree, come on powers that be (TGO MODS ) try and make this happen.

its good to know where people are from and what parts they are selling. i mean you are going to find out where they are from anyway when you e-mail them so might as well save an e-mail to know where they are from right in the ad.

some regional boards have done this. If you're the mod of it, go ahead, as long as all the ads stay in the sticky post, I don't think the admins have a problem.

and if they do, what's the worst that could happen, get's locked or deleted, not like you intentionally meant to do wrong

To expand on my original statement, I should have said the link would be to a classified ad placed on this website. And this ad would be a private party only, not a business.

I am in an unusual position of living very close to Dirk. We live about 15 minutes away from each other. But as I type this, Dirk is having a new house built. He will be moving into his new home around mid-July and it's only two miles from mine!! The next time I see him, I'll mention all this to him.

i understood that clearly... i think as long as the thread is started with a description, and then linked to the t.g.o. classified ad, there should be no problems.

i know that jza and jobryan had a classified thread in the southeast board.... seemed to work rather well for them.

i'm thinking about doing something similar in the northeast board seeing as people don't bother to read the announcements posted at the tops of the forums. :lala:
