Re: So...3+ years of COTM. When can we expect calendars?
I would love to purchase a calendar. There are many great looking vehicles on this site worthy of the recognition. Some of the shots I've seen are poster worthy. I had one made in 24x36 of a gathering I attended.

holy smokes!! where was that? I am in NJ also and would LOVE to hangout with a group of cars like that
Re: So...3+ years of COTM. When can we expect calendars?
^^^That IS an excellent picture^^^. And poster worthy.
As for the calendar, while I haven't investigated, it can't be all that difficult to have a hundred or so cranked out. Surely someone on this site is involved in the printing business.
Re: So...3+ years of COTM. When can we expect calendars?
For what it's worth, I've initiated discussions with a local printing shop.
I've requested a quote for 50 -100 units with pictures selected from the COTM postings above.
I have no idea what to expect and am not committed to anything other than this preliminary investigation.

If you're taking photos that others have created and are using them to sell a calendar, make sure you have the original photographer's permission first.
Re: So...3+ years of COTM. When can we expect calendars?
I don't think it's terribly expensive...a guy I used to work with had some made a few years back and gave them out to his favorite forklift people, lol. We used to haul behr paint for home depot and he took a nice pic of his kenworth at 12 different stores and handed a calendar to all 12 receiving departments. Was actually pretty cool.

Solid advice. This is a case where doing something nice for people can turn in to a nightmare without proper precautions.
Re: So...3+ years of COTM. When can we expect calendars?
I tried something similar years ago with TGO tshirts and it WAS a nightmare. You can't please everyone and it becomes a lot of work dealing with the printer, collecting money from the thousands that said they'd buy, but then don't, packing/labelling, getting to the post office to ship, hoping they get delivered without being damaged, etc.
Secondly, the photos seen on the screen might look great, but you can't take these pics and enlarge them to calendar size and expect them to look good. The on screen DPI might be 72, and you need at least 300 DPI for a printable image. So, now you would need to get high resolution, original images from the owners.
Re: So...3+ years of COTM. When can we expect calendars?
Great idea! I belong to a couple of Firebird groups on Facebook and won COTM twice in two groups.
In December, the admin took the photos to a place, had them done in a week, and sold them for $20 shipped. WalMart even does it. A couple hundred calender's produced. Pricing and shipping was figured so there was no profit to be made.
Re: So...3+ years of COTM. When can we expect calendars?
In addition to the cautionary tales above (and the successful ones too), anything I could manage probably wouldn't get completed until March. My newly revised work schedule will now take me away for three weeks out of the month and that leaves little time to coordinate something like this.
Still, I'll follow through with the printer and see how things shape up.
If I kept the print run to 50 copies, I would think that those would sell.

Re: So...3+ years of COTM. When can we expect calendars?
I would also love to buy one, but I feel terrible for the person who tries to do this for the site. So much small stuff and work that adds up. Would be easier if someone had their own print shop.
And Im not condoning stealing photos or anything but....if people really wanted one there are “make your own calendar” sites online and a 1 off for yourself would be no problem.
Re: So...3+ years of COTM. When can we expect calendars?
A couple of things have happened since I started this thread.
The first being, as it has been suggested just recently, that a calendar can be produced without a whole lot of input from any potential author. I've been informed that there are a number of online options that will help create whatever it is that you're after. I can't say that I'm familiar with any of them. Which leads me to...
I find now that, after a couple of changes in my working schedule, there is no longer the time available for me to pursue such an endeavor.
Does that mean it's dead in the water? Not necessarily. But the prospects of anything emerging in time for the new year are remote.
Thanks for the interest just the same.
On a side note, what would YOU pay for a ThirdGen calendar? Perhaps that might generate interest from another party.
