Thirdgen group @ Sealy Track???
I know there is no formal group. It may be kinda fun to get together every week or 2 and race. Larry Dunlap is looking into details. What does everyone think? Would you participate?

Once all of the bugs were sorted out, about 9-10 mos. now. I actually took it to Sealy about 2 weeks ago, and could not make a decent pass. I'd ease off the line to avoid boiling the tires, which gave me a very bad reaction time. And as soon as I hit second, it boiled them anyway. Still managed to go through the traps @78 from about the 330 mark. I NEED SLICKS BAD!!!!!!!!!

Not really. I just need to get it hooked up, 'cause I think it's gonna be a monster. I'm sure there are plenty of guys out there who could kick my azz, but you gotta remember, I bought this thing NEW, and I remember a time when this thing couldn't get out of it's own way. Now, it feels like I'm drivin' a funny car.

You're right about the trans, but won't it be fun? I've never blown up anything on a car before. I had the trans gone thru by Jim Langford (Top-flight transmission guy) As Long as I don't do 6000 side-steps, he thinks it will hang. We'll see.
Norman's still alive. Hasn't done much, if anything to increase performance (i.e. new motor)He's not on thirdgen much. His car is also his daily driver, which makes it tough. I'm back only because Craig (Zap Racing) got a smokin deal on that car he just bought, and I told him to go here to get all the info he wanted, and now that my car is FINALLY running (after being in the garage for 6 years), I figured I should share all the cussing and swearing I've gone thru in the past 3 years with everyone. This car is now WAY more fun than it used to be. I wish it was my daily driver, but I couldn't afford the gas!!!!

Well as some of you know, it's $10 to get in at Lonestar Raceway and watch, and only $5 extra to watch. On a normal night you can easily get in 4 or 5 runs or more if you want. Its an IHRA 1/8 mile track. I go about once per month or so and usually just test and tune, sometimes bracket race. They have "Car club BAsh" nights every few months. These are very well attended by Halo Club (lightning trucks), Westside mustangs, Houston F-body (4th gen club), and some others. I am still finding out the costs on these nights if we wanted to particiapate as a thirdgen club. YOu have about 2 or 3 test and tune runs, then bracket race against the other clubs the rest of the night, get points and winners get trophies (i think, ive never won). Its pretty fun, you don't get to run as much as a normal night because there are so many cars, but there are a lot of really nice guys (except the MUstang guys
just kidding). I don't see how it could be really expensive but I will find out. We should just try and get some thirdgens to show up sometimes and see how the interest would be. The 1/8 mile is still a lot of fun for me, you can practice launching, reaction time, etc, and get a good idea how you car is running. Also its easier on your car than the 1/4. I don't go to baytown so much because its far.
How about planning a night out there in a few weeks, maybe around mid september?

I think Larry meant that it was $5 extra to race. So, for 15 bucks, and all the gas you can blow out your exhaust, you can have a good time.

Hi
I still want to participate. I am in Mexico on business and will be back tomorrow. I will be down to the car show, hope to see you there. If not I will call on Sunday. I left my car with the superram just about on. I have to bolt on the plenum and hook up the throttle body, then readjust two valves where I had to remove the rockers to get to the bottom bolts on the runners. What a PITA! Anyway I haven't done that before (adjust the valves) so I might see you could come by and supervise. I will then have to put on the valve covers and hope everything works OK. Then I'll be ready to put on the headers finally. I have the copper gaskets and the stage 8 bolts, I just need to get those two collector to pipe flange that I mentiond were lost in the shipment when the box broke.
I still won't be able to race at that point since the Tranny is on the last legs. Im positive I hastened its demise when I tried to install those Lokar throttle and TV cables and one time didnt connect the tV cable. Anyway I need to order the TH350. You said in a message that you know where to get those locally. Need to talk to you about that. Hopefully I can be ready to race in a couple of weeks, just in time for the cold weather. If you get those slicks we ought to be able to have a good rematch out at Sealy right?
Looking forward to that night
take care

Well Im thinnking that for the price of a used 700r4 I can get a race rebuilt TH350. Thats about $750 to %900. After that I don't have to worry about the freaking TV cable adjustment or blowing it out drag racing. I don't really need the overdrive since I only drive the car on weekends and to the strip.

hmmm, tempting but I think if Im going to go to all the trouble to change the Tranny Id rather do it once with a bulletproof TH350 or 400, rebuilt for racing, and hopefully not have to do it again ever. BTW, hope to see you out at Sealy in a few weeks when I get the tranny on there.
