Well, actually, we spent quite a bit of time discussing the guidelines for getting the "monthly meets" organized.

We have only had one since we got the monthlys "organized". There was a few attempts with very limited turnout, but by doing some discussion, we came up with, and all agreed with these basic guidelines:

Basically what we discussd and agreeded on, is that the monthlys be kept more centrally located--move it around town so it would fair to everybody as far as traveling distances--permanent time/date , so people can make plans in advance, such as getting off work/scheduling (in this case the second Sat every month @ 4PM.)

The offical "monthly meet" was only to be 2 hours long. Now we also agreed that in many cases, after the "offical monthly meet", we may split off in groups and go do something like go to one of the local car shows like Sam's or the Woodlands, or go to the dragstrip or anything special that might be happening in town.

The first of the organized "monthly meets" was on the west side of town (Hooter's on weisteimer--then we all decided to cruise to Sam's and hang out at the car show for a while.). We agreed that the second "organized" monthly would suspended in favor of the "Summer Meet", but as far as rotating around town it would count as going to the southeast side (where we have a major concentration of TGO members). The next meet is/was to be on the North side (ne--n--nw or somewhere in that general vicinity).

I would imagine that since that area of town includes both the every Sat night car show up in the Woodlands as well as HMP (1/8 mile strip)--tht there will be a group going to one or the other (or 2 groups going to one or the other.

Unless there is an overwhelming group that wants to go do something like a car show or some special event, I personally, am thinking about going to HMP and and if anybody wants to go with me--U are more than welcome. It is not part of the offical monthly meet--just something to go do afterwards on a Sat night!

So, if we follow our own guidelines that we ALL agreed on, the next monthly will be July 9th--4 Pm--location yet to be decided.

I was going to start a thread for that in a few days, but I guess it's time to do that NOW?

Something I forgot to say about the post above, is that i think it is BECAUSE we went to all this trouble to set down some guidelines, so there was some permancey or stability (for lack of a better word) to the "organized monthly meets", is why we had such a LARGE turnout at the first of the monthlys. The monthlys attempted in the past had turnouts of 3 or 4 cars MAX.

The monthly we had at Hooters, we had 8 and there would have been 12 to 14 if everybody had made it that said they would. There's always stuff that comes up that prevents people from showing up for any type of meet, but As it was, we had 8 cars/ 10 car owners ( Mrs. ZAP and Daniel did not have their cars there), and if Barry, Larry, ESC (and somebody else I can't remember) that had said they were going to be there, we would have had as many as some of the BIG meets.

I think it would serve us well, if we stuck to what we all agreed on for the monthlys!

im with you mike maybe well just set something up sometime and anyone else who wants to come is invited

Because we spent a LOT of time discussing this issue back and forth as far as when and what time. THIS IS WHAT THE MAJORITY AGREED ON!

If everybody agrees (the majority) that we should change the guidelines that we should meet at a different day of the month or time of day--That's cool with me!

We had to get some kind of stability included in putting together these monthlys. Before we did they were VERY UNSUCESSFUL with only 2 or 3 people showing up, or never took place at all!

I personally have devoted an unusual amount of time in trying to get the monthlys organized and it showed in the amount of people that turned out for the first one. If we want to change the guidelines for them, that's fine, but we can't just keep changing the date and time at will just to suit somebodies whimes and desires or it will go back to the way it was before which was NOWHERE!

I'd like to add that we specifically made it late in the day (4PM) so those that do work on Saturday or work 1/2 days can still make the meet and still be out in time to take care of family or girlfriends will not eat into their Sat nights.

Again this is what was suggested and agreed on by the majority of people that cared enough to join in the discussion.

If changing it to say 6pm every second Sat of the month is better AND EVERYBODY agrees on it--COOL!

If changing it to every second SUNDAY of the month or third SUN of the month, is better, AND EVERYBODY agrees on it--COOL!

But the bottom line--and I'll say it again--is that we have to have some pemanency/ stability to the "organized monthly meets" or it just aint gonna work! We can't keep changing everything all the time or people can not make plans--they forget when it is--ETC!

The meets are not at Hooter's--the first of the monthlys that we had was--but it was Not deceided that they would be at any particular location. It was decided that we would move it around town each month so it would be fair to all--so some would not have to drive across town every month, and some only have to drive a couple miles.

the point was to say that if we are just meeting somewhere to chat and hang for a while be it hooters or where ever regardless its more convienient to do it Sun than Sat

i think the idea of moving it around is very fair and reasonable...i also think its just as good of an idea to make it as close to the center of houston as possible so that no one has to drive across the city to get to a meet...but only to the center of the city

just an idea

im not trying to bash on you or get on your case at all and id like to say that i highly appreciate your hard work as myself being the "organzier" in my group of friends i know how lame it can be sometimes to have to set everything up and bring people together bc noone else wants to do it

i just get disappointed when you guys have any meets bc theyre always on sat...i did note the extended time to 4pm but by the time i get home and take a shower its 6pm and then the drive...basically i wouldnt be able to make it. I def think we need to rearrange the setup with the meet and see if we couldnt just do it every second sunday of the month

and as i was saying with the point being if people could make it somewhere to meet at like 4 pm on a SAT and chat eat and have a good time for 2 or 3 hours...then they should be able to do that on a sunday just as easily and spend their SAT making sure their car can make it to the meets lol (no offense just noticing people seem to keep breaking down on meet day myself included)

It may be more convient for U, but not everybody is in the same situation. We discussed at length, whether it should be Sat or Sun--Sat was the popular decision. I certainly understand your situation and wish I knew what to tell U. but there were only one or maybe two that wanted Sun. The rest wanted Sat. I remember specifically from the discussions that there was a number of people that could NOT make it on Sundays.

As I said before, if the majority want to change the day of the month or time of the day--COOL!

I agree, but U must admit that the "center of the city" is usually not the "best part of town" (for lack of a better phrase)! It was originally suggested that we try and keeo it no further out from the center of the city than the 610 loop, and if possible, I would like to see that. You are 100% right, the more centrally located, the better, but we also have to be aware of our surroundings and not have the monthly in an area of town where half the members refuse to go hang out and or take their girlfriend or wife!
