looking for a local part you guys might be throwing away

Well - story goes I got my car "repaired" after the big wreck and looking around recently noticed that my car is missing the AIR system. If you don't know what this looks like, click this: AIR system. I'm trying to get my car as close back to factory and running right before I start really changing things - so if you've got this system just lying around (because you went with non-AIR headers), I'd love to take it off of you.

Thanks Houstonites

Oh and if it makes any difference - 88 to 92 cars only

I'll also take suggestions on the best way to entirely remove the system with no ill effects. Currently I've got the smog pump still on there and some random lines not connected under the hood. I think it's making my exhaust smell.

I think I still have the AIR pump, but do not have the tubing that goesto the exhust--have to look to double check.

Actually the best place to look would be one of the parts strippers that advertise on eBay.

Or U might a google search for "Thirden Ranch"--guys name is Dennis Bruins (I think)--I've dealt with him before and has very good customer service--much better than others I dealt with.

On mine (was already done when I bought the car) delete pump + all the tubing--weld up the holes in the headers--delete the tube that goes to Cat.

However, it looks like a couple of electrical sensors from the car (I am assuming) was left in tact hanging and still plugged in--maybe so the computer does freak out?

When i replace the Hooker Ypipe that comes with the 2055 system (if that darn thing ever gets here--ordered one direct from Hooker!!!)--will delte the cat completely and replace with a 3" Y cutout.

U might benefit from doing a search on the exhaust board or even post a question or 2?

I'm sure this has been covered about a gazillion times on that board, and U might be able to find the parts u need from somebody on that board?

Sorry, but I completely destroyed the stainless tubing that attaches to the exhaust manifolds. I kept the remainder of the system intact on the car. I am assuming those are the bits you are missing? Or are there more parts gone?

mainly the diverter. But with big wrecks come bent stuff. I was just curious if one of you Houston guys had a system laying around collecting dust. I'm aware of the process of removing it - but thought putting it back together might be a simpler process based on whats left.

Thanks anyway though. I'm going to try and detach what I can this weekend.

I removed mine and tossed the air crap.

Removed the AIR tubes from the headers, welded up the bungs (You can leave the tubes on as there is a 1 way check valve on them). You can leave the smog pump on, but it would sound a little noisy if left open.

Cut the air tube to the cat and crimp the connector on your cat.

Uhh.. get a new serpentine belt. I have one here in my car, so if you don't do it before the gathering, I will give you it.

Oh, and as far as the computer is conserned. There is only a couple of things in the computer for when the smog pump is activated. Also, when the smog pump is running (I think engine cold and at a low speed), it adjusts the o2 sensor 100mv to compensate for the air in the headers.

Having detached the sensors on the vehicle will not throw a code.

kevin89formula has a complete smog setup for sale (smog pump, diverter, all hoses and sensors, metal pipe from smog pump to diverter (the whole setup). It all works and is in good shape. I'll ask him what he wants for it all if you want it.
