first off im from the se side of houston and im new to the site so hi all . and i have a ?. my heater is not working . the fan blows. i replaced the temp control valve . and the hoses get hot just there is no hot air . im thinking a vacume hose is bad or has came off. the heater core should not be back cause there is fluid flowing throught it . so any help, i would be greatful because its getting really cold out there. o and also if any one has a pis or can send me a pic of the vacuum diagram for an 88 camaro. 305 tbi thank you very much

Welcome to the board!

If nobody can help, try one of the "tech boards" such as "Cooling" (since it has to do with water flow)-- "Body and Interior" --or the general engine tech board--OR do a search enter the word heater or some variation of that. I'm sure U will find the onfo U need!

One thing to make sure of is the bottom levr on the dash "temp control" when U move it from left to right (cold to hot) it is a cable that opens the trap door to let the heat actually in from the heater core. If U don't feel a little resistance while moving it the cable may be broken or something. Also, check the hoses past the heater control valve to make surethat it is actually opening--the hoses leading to it should be warm as (U said they were), but if they are not on the other side of the valve , something not letting th valve open.

U can always hook up a tempory vacuum hose to see if the valve is working right.

Excuse my ignorance, but what would the thermostat have to do with the heater blowing hot?

i have no clue someone said that it may be stuck open. which would actually make a little since. consitering that the temp never gets over the first mark on the temp gauge. so for the price its whorth a try right lol.

Even if it was stuck open, once the engine got up to operating temp, U would feel heat if the heating system was working correctly.

I'm not so sure it's the heater core--they either work or not usually because they leak or don't leak. I guess they can clog up but I have never heard of one doing that.

What part of town do U live in?

OOps, I see U live in Alvin--was gonna say if U wanna swing by the house I'd be glad to look at it.

Does the hose in between the firewall and the heater control valve get hot when engine is warm and heater is turned on?

Have U posted this on the cooling board?

Have U checked to see if the trap door is opening when U slide the temp control **** all the way to the right? Do U hear it opening and closing?
