Re: The Oklahoma Thread

I also live in Chandler, Oklahoma. I'm a Junior in High School there. Here's a pic. of my 88' Iroc- Z28 that my dad and I have completely restored from nearly nothing in the past 2 years.
Before:

After: Sorry for the poor quality picture for the after, I took it with my camera phone. It's got a 350 long block bored to a 383 in it right now... hopefully when I get some more money this summer I can put a super or turbo charger on it to crank the horses up some more. Just read underneath my profile thing for more stats.

Re: The Oklahoma Thread

you make a good point jensen i was thinking more of a small website for current events and gatherings not really a large forum we would have a list of members and their rides and mods and so on.

Re: The Oklahoma Thread

If your wondering how to get a picture on here... you need to have a picture of your car like on a website. I got mine off my cardomain profile, and when you have the picture you want double click on it so it enlarges it and puts it in a new window. In most cases it'll have a little URL address some where with the window that you can copy and paste to the "Insert Image" button on here. (At least that's how I did it, theres probably another way even)

Re: The Oklahoma Thread

Dude that sounds pretty sweet! I need to visit a machine shop sometime haha so I can make some shifter ***** or switches :P
But yeah we're trying to get as many people to come share their stories about their cars and everything so welcome once again haha!
If you've read some earlier posts you might tell that we're trying to get a 3rd Gen Camaro/Firebird club going on in Oklahoma... trying to see how many people we got in Oklahoma for it along with seeing if we can make a website. So any ideas are needed for that lol

Re: The Oklahoma Thread

I do agree with you jensen for the support of a site. Yeah don't think we would have the number of people that most sites do, but it would be nice to have something. Even if we just do the forum stuff on here, and have meets or something. I just want to get together with other local third gen people that enjoy their cars, not because they are cheap, but because they enjoy them. I think it would be fun.

Re: The Oklahoma Thread

Maybe we could start a "club" so to speak, but just take it one meet at a time. If we get enough interest then move on to a site, or something. I guess it would be up to the person that has the time and effort into the site if it's worth doing. If it costs anything I don't think it would be worth it at this time, but if we could do it free, and just have a basic forum or message board for calendar stuff then it would be cool to have, even if we don't have many users.

Re: The Oklahoma Thread

If people wanted to meet at the track, Noble here where I am at. I manage the hardware store here in town, so they could meet here. My car is not really a race car by any means so I wouldn't care to actually race it, but it would be a fun meet to watch some of those that want to run them, and hang out with everyone. If we are serious I know a few of the people that run the track. Maybe they could cut us a deal on gate fees or something.

On the website: Maybe we should try and organize a few meets. See how many people show, and poll their interest in a site. I know there are three or four third gen's here in Noble, and they are not on TGO that I know of. So we could get some by spreading the word. I know the North TX club has made up some business cards, and when they see a third gen car they leave it on their car telling them about their club, and their website. That would be a pretty inexpensive ad campaign.

Re: The Oklahoma Thread

I totally understand where you are coming from. I want to make it as centrally located and easy for everyone as possible. Then maybe we can move it places here and there for special outings. I know Coit's on 39th and May has cruise nights weekly during the summer. It would be cool to get as many thirdgens there together.

I think thirdgen.org already has an area where you can get those. Can't really remember where I saw them now. Maybe in the threads where the t-shirts are.

Re: The Oklahoma Thread

I'll check and see when the Coit's Cruise-In starts. Other than that I work every other weekend until 6pm. Other than that I'm pretty open.

Here is the link to the Decals. If you go further down below the regional boards, and before the classifieds there is a merchandise boards. I don't know if okofoz still has them, but here is the link to it.

Re: The Oklahoma Thread

I say just make a sticker :P As long as it's not the same as the website's you shouldn't get into trouble.... it'd be like a small band doing a cover of a more famous band's song, everyone does it and they don't seem to care because it just gets the bigger band more recognition. That's just the way I see it, but copyright laws and all that do seem to be thrown out of proportion sometimes so who knows lol

Re: The Oklahoma Thread

I agree. As long as it wasn't the same design you should be fine legally. Since this board isn't really a company, but more of a community if you make one, you may post it on here and may be able to sell it to others. Let us know what you come up with.

I'm all for meeting in the city. Do you think we should wait for warmer weather, or just anytime in the near future?

Does anyone have any ideas of when and where? Is Downtown more convienent, or just anywhere in the OKC area? There are quite a few places to eat just about everywhere so just wherever is easiest for everyone works for me.

Re: The Oklahoma Thread

holy cr@p chris that car is insane! simalar to what i wanna do. i gotta see it.

seeing u are in stillwater, does my car look familiar? i think my car came from there. i found recipts in the back from like 03? from around there and i found a windshild sticker burn-in that said stillwater designs. the car used to have rs 15s on it white on white. huge tires on the back and a bra when i got it

as far as racing goes, its like 14 laps? about 50sec a lap?

its been awhile. like i said expensive but really really fun

I agreee. Chris that is a nice looking car. Looks show quality. I can't get over how clean it looks on the bottom.

People get dirty looking at my car from 50 yards away.

Thanks for the props! Although, there is a lot that needs work that the pictures don't show. That was a pic of the underneath a couple years ago after I just got it running so it was fresh. Its all just a work in progress.

By the track I meant the strip preferably. I haven't been to Thunder Valley or Tulsa Raceway Park in over a year.

Re: The Oklahoma Thread

Well I'm in for jsut about whenever. I know the weather is probably knocking out this weekend, and I work every other weekend, but am off at 6pm. So if we do it after then it won't matter.

I got the windows fixed in the RS so now I don't freeze while driving it.
