Re: The Oklahoma Thread

So I just got off the phone with a buddy of mine that owes me some cash. He will be able to pay me back starting Feb. or march. After Christmas the Motor is comming out and torn down. As soon as he starts paying me back the money is going strait to the Motor build. I'll have a list of what I'm getting/ doing to the 305 as soon as I find the parts I want. and I will post some pics as soon as I get them.

Re: The Oklahoma Thread

Why a 305? I know that may be what you have, but, there are many other "better" choices. Especially if you have to rebuild it anyway.

^Right. 350s are dirt cheap and drop right in. You don't even have to do the @$$ pain of a v6-v8 swap.

Re: The Oklahoma Thread

well for what I am wanting to do to the motor, I can spend the same amount of money as I would to do the same thing to a 350 and get maybe 25 less horse power. Or I can save that $300-400 now to ensure I get everything that I want for the 305. Im not wanting a ***** out drag/race motor. I'm just wanting something that can hold its own. the real motor will come later down the road when I can handle that much power on the road course.

Re: The Oklahoma Thread

Yeah I knew an lt1 trans and ls1 block don't match. I was going to get the car whole from my aunt. It was totaled out and my uncle bought it back from the ins before he died. i would have had everything for it. But IT was sold before I had a chance to talk to my aunt about it. Oh well. I'll just have to go a different route now.

welllllll....... aside from trying to live through these storms it hasnt been too bad..... i got my heads in.... they are EQ performance cylinder heads. They are cast iron and have 235cc intake runners and 72cc combustion chambers with straight plugs. Fully assembled with 2.08/1.6 stainless steel valves, single 1.25inch valve springs that can handle a .600 valve lift. The springs work with either hydraulic or solid flat tappet and hydraulic roller camshafts. The heads also come with screw in studs and guide plates. Here is what they flowed for the advertisment.... ive got my flow sheets out in the car.

INT / EX
.1-73 / 61
.2-145.1 / 115.3
.3-204.4 / 149.8

.5-286.1 / 189.6
.6-305 / 198.1

^Nice! When do ya think it will be back together and ready to drive?

I haven't done much, other than deal with mentioned ice storms and Christmas with the family (oh, and Avatar kicks ***). Got a factory service manual for Christmas. Man, I don't know how I lived without one.

Chambers and that flow need big inches to support it fully, and much more than a 1 1/4" single spring to run enough cam over 7000 for extended periods, and the large chambers make it sound like you are going either 415+ inches NA or a 350-370" boosted setup... soo what is it?

388 with 200 shot of juice
we ran into a problem last night after we got it assembled... the rod to block clearance was striking so i have to dremel that down and the rod to cam was a bit too close for comfort but i may be able to get away with it especially if the lobes are opposite of the rod... i may have to grind the rod a bit too.... either way the roatating assembly has to be re-balanced now...

Re: The Oklahoma Thread

That sucks but been there done that and have a first place trophy... with 6" h beams and a 3.875" stroke crank and a solid roller I found I had quite a bit of material to take off the rods and block.

Re: The Oklahoma Thread

Stern ST-8's for a 5 series bmw. $450 shipped for the wheels in a 17x8.5" +13 offset, fits almost perfect but can't go full lock. I did have to drill the tiny center cap area out to 2.96" which was a little time consuming, but doable. I called around a few places and the best bet for getting them is on ebay.

Re: The Oklahoma Thread

well base price for the engine and car is 1500. the car is a 98 v6 bird they tried to put a 94 motor and trans in. so its all..... f'ed so i might get it cheep. i talked to a guy who said try to give 750 and then go from there. the main thing i need from the bird is the clutch pedal and stuff. then i can part and sell the rest.

THey are not that rare, GM replaced them under warranty awhile back with glass because they spider webbed really bad. Mine are spider webbed, I plan on sanding them smooth and putting dark tint on them to make it look better on the outside. If yours are in good shape, consider yourself lucky, I would do some research to see if there is a way to maintain the condition of them. Maybe tint them some more, I dont know.

Would love any information you guys could give me regarding a 1984 Camaro Berlinetta. I inherited it when my Grandpa passed away. It has less than 60K original miles on it and is in good condition. Email if you would like: rachellyn80@hotmail.com

Re: The Oklahoma Thread

Pull-A-Part currently has 4 third gens on the lot. An '85 Camaro, 2 '91-'92 'birds, and an '85-'90 TA. I took the strut tower caps, trunk plastics, shifter and a trim piece for my Alero and got out of there under seven bucks.
Oh, and they have 3 4th gen Camaros too.

Re: The Oklahoma Thread

New to the sight ..... Got a 91 R-S convt, white, red interior, balck top. It's got a broke 3.1 V-6 and automatic, I want to put a 5.3 and auto in it and I am starting to gather info....My goal is a nice driver with good fuel economy and would like it to perform well but not looking for a race car. By the way I live in Tulsa . I've some 1st gen camaro's also.

I live in Blackwell ok have an 89 rs l03 switching too 600 Carter carb, comp cams 08-502-8 hydraulic roller cam,416 ported heads, stainless steel headers, edelbrock performer intake,Mallory dist.,comp 986-16 valve springs. That's all I can think of right now still wanting roller rockers,3.42 posi, stall converter. Re: The Oklahoma Thread

My brother and I just picked up an 87 IROC-Z 5-speed. needs a little help, won't start because the pump doesn't seem to kick on. Once we get that sorted, we'll be ready to go.
