The Oklahoma Thread
Every few months we have someone from OK on here asking if there are any others third gens around. I figured it would be a good idea to make a thread with useful info for OK peeps that stays somewhat near the top, that way n00bs will look in here instead of making another thread (like I am doing now).
Post up where you are at & what you have.
Also, post up info that other Okies might find interesting, like:
There is an f-body club in OKC and Tulsa, and a GM club in OKC.
COFBA
TFCC
OKGMP
There's also non car specific sites like ok-speed and humble, but you can find those thru google.
We also have one of the largest f-body salvage yards in the country located in Bethany. American Camaro has everything and I've been going there for several years. eBay easily beats them on price, but even eBay doesn't have what Gary and the rest have in their shop.
Also, list places that you've been burned and the rest should stay away from. So far every shop I've dealt with here has been pretty good to great.

Re: The Oklahoma Thread
my mother in law wreaked the car before i got it and had american camaro put that bumper on it because she did not want to wait to get the right bumper when i got the car the bumper was falling off and the car did not run. i finally got the bumper mounted and got it running (wayyyyy too many stupid people worked on the car before i got my hands on it) it is finally running well i just have to replace a lifter it is ticking. hopefully it will last until the temp rises i dont want to tear it down in the cold screw 18*
you have a beautiful car i cant wait till i can get mine looking that good

Re: The Oklahoma Thread
Yeah, replacing a lifter in this cold would blow....
I had a much shorter project last night. My wife bought me aluminum drums for Christmas. Got them from American Camaro for $60. On ebay they go for $75 and up. A half hour of work and I took off 8 pounds of rotating weight, so I'm happy for now.
Next project is an LS1 driveshaft. Hopefully she'll get one for me for my B-day in Feb.

Re: The Oklahoma Thread
Hey guys. Havene't been on here during the holidays, so much going on. Glad to see other okies on here and talk to them. The COFBA site looks to be going down, and there weren't many third gen people on there. I'm in the process of selling my 89 Iroc. Kind of sad about it, but it gives me more space, and funds to play with the 92 RS Z03. Here is a pic of the Iroc and the RS.

Re: The Oklahoma Thread
Thats why I put some useful info in the first post. I knew eventually someone would need it.
American Camaro's number is (888) 833-4582. They have doors for about $250. I usually get a lower price if I bring cash.
Might want to check out pull-a-part on 1200 S Santa Fe. Thats close to Shields & I-40. Great prices, but their inventory changes a lot, so they might not have a 3rd gen.

I'll have to go check pull-a-part out. I'm needing a passenger fender for the RS.

Just playing man. Yeah OU choked again in the big game, but hey at least we made it there. OSU had a great season. Hopefully they can make a good run next season too

t_towner, very nice rides! Was '91 #6 owned by a guy in OKC?
We watched the game too, but since the wife went to OSU, and I went UCO, we didn't care too much about the loss. It was a pretty good game until the end. Even then it wasn't a blowout, just a beating from a slightly better team that wanted it more.

Re: The Oklahoma Thread
Looks like a real nice car.
It's nice to see all of these Oklahoma cars out and on the boards. We all really need to get together sometime.
I should have the RS back up and going this week. Started putting the window motors in. Man what a PITA. However the passenger side will be easier since I know what to do now. Tomorrow I plan on tackling that and putting a new thermostat in it. Previous owner either put a really really low one in or none at all. It doesn't warm up for nothing.
Then it's on to painting the wheels. Man I hate those faded red wheels.

Hey T-Towner I think we should all get together and have a tour of your collection. For those of us in the OKC area it would make for a great cruise trip. Of course wait till the weather is warmer, but sounds like a lot of fun.

Re: The Oklahoma Thread
I know COFBA is pretty much going under. Last time I was on their site they were talking about it. The GMPP site I don't go to much. Like you said it's alot of the newer cars crowd. I actually get on North Texas Third Gen Assn's site a lot. Yeah it's in Texas, but it's the closest specific third gen site to us. Real nice site, and lots of great people.

Re: The Oklahoma Thread
Maybe we should talk to the guys that currently have the COFBA.com Since they are not wanting to do it anymore it would be ideal. No generation bias, and still includes Camaro's and Firebirds. That and it already has members that frequent it. It just needs people that are involved to run it. Not just now but down the road too.
That being said, I do like OKTG too!
88-Camaro-88 I appreciate the offer, but the Iroc isn't on my current project list. The RS I'm not going to change rear ends in. At least not planning on it. Thanks again though.

Re: The Oklahoma Thread
Not to rain on the parade here, but.....
We tried this about 5 years ago. A local IROC owner by the name of Amanda started a OK 3rd gen board found here. There doesn't seem to be much interest locally, besides the few of us here. There are too many people driving our cars because they are cheap and still run, not because they enjoy them. COFBA used to have 100+ members and something going on about 3 times a month. Even they failed. A core group of a dozen people cannot support a club. That's just friends with similar cars hanging out.
My 2 cents.....
