388 stroker short block

So after scoring a roller 350 and some deep thought, ive decided to sell off the pre 86 stroker short block and build the new one into a stroker instead.

Its a pre86 block, punched out .060 over, 2piece rear main. 2 bolt main caps with arp studs. All the machine work was done at a very repituable shop in WA before I moved. I had it tanked, magnafluxed, new freeze plugs, new cam bearings, and align honed.

Crank is an eagle cast crank good to 500hp 3.75 stroke 2 peice. all journals are good, doesnt need to be turned.

Pistons are SRP forged flat tops for the .060 over bore. (i paid nearly $600 just for the pistons new) with 2 vavle reliefs. pistons are hung on 6" eagle hbeam rods with floating pins with spiro locks. pistons are still on the rods and are numbered for the hole they came out of. rings were file fit at the same machine shop and are still on the pistons and in good shape. rods also have arp bolts

the whole rotating assembly will need to be rebalanced since i didnt get it balanced for the new pistons.

engine is already fully dissassembled in my garage. cam wiped a lobe, so it wont be included. other than that its the full short block. I can even throw in a oil pump/pickup and pan. could be convinced to throw in the arp head bolts as well....

Looking to get $500. I have it on here and NTTGA before I throw it on CL for more $.

Re: 388 stroker short block

engine was run around 1000-1500 miles before it wiped the cam. i pulled it to get the rotating assembly rebalanced and throw a new cam in. but ive spent the last year working on the body and never got around to rebuilding this engine.

Re: 388 stroker short block

if anyone wants to look up the price on what it would cost to build this short block with new parts this should give you an idea.
Crank
Pistons
Rods
these are the exact parts, not just a close guess.

Re: 388 stroker short block

put it on on cl here. already have a new cam and flexplate and balancer. im going to keep gathering parts and build it for my truck unless someone buys it first. $500 price for the short block for TGOers still stands.

Re: 388 stroker short block

I built a similar 383 my shortblock ran me near $3k.
GLWS this is a good deal, grab a cam and send it all to a machine shop and you have a solid 383 shortblock!
