track times

aight well me, bill, and james went out to the tracks tonight.. i wasnt pleased with the way my car ran but oh well.. question for you guys.

James is running the same exact setup i have other than he has the edelbrock intake. He was constantly pulling 17.0-17.1's with a 60' time almost identical to me. differnce is, he has the stock open 2.73's, and im running 3.23 posi. shouldnt my 60' and 1/8 be at least a tenth of a second quicker than his?! i can see maybe not the 1/8 and above, but at least the 60ft...

17.0 in phoenix?

Exhaust, intake, cam, and THEN gears. Until you modify your motor a little more, better gearing ain't gonna do squat for 1/4 mile E.T. I remember an aquintance of mine (BlueFormula350 from these boards I think was his name) that had a 350 TPI formula that went from 15.3s to consistent 16.0 after swapping 3.73's in place of his 3.23 because his motor was STOCK.

I have yet to get my TA out to the track. First I've gotta install my
new front air-dam. After that I'm hoping to have my TA painted.
So Hopefully, sometime by September, I'll be able to get out to
the track.

Definitely not good conditions last night. Way too much heat and humidity. The best I could do was a 16.668 in a car that has run 16.210.

When my car had just catback and a few other little things I went from a 15.8 to a 15.5 going from 3.08 open to a 3.42 posi, MPH didn't change all that much as I recall though. I recommend 3.42's, they're a fun street gear that still lets you cruise on the highway at a decent rpm

High 15's. Now I have a baseline for the car. Onto the ZZ3 swap!
