Tranny question...
I am going to change the fluid in my tranny and I was wondering how much new fluid would I need for a 700-R4? Anything else besides the fluid, filter, and pan seal should be replaced when I change fluid? Thanks.

Hey what's up Rusty. Wow sweet an 89 GTA 350
What color is it? Man you got yourself a little 3rd gen collection going on lol I will try to stop by next time I am out that way. If you ever come down OC way let me know and maybe we can meetup. Yea the 19# injectors suck but I finally got the 24# LT1 injectors that are waiting to be put in. Car has been doing good and man it's got some power to it
Check out my sig link for some pics of the car. Will give you a call sometime so I can check out your collection.

I hope you're only joking cause that ain't right. IIRC it's more like 3 to 4. If you have a "deep" trans pan installed add 1 additional quart.

I run 17 1/2 quarts in my '89 Chev truck- Darrell young fully built 700r4, deep sump, two coolers and lots of plumbing- This of course is from a complete install with new convertor, not just a standard fluid change. Yes that was 17 1/2 quarts- no misprint.
By the way- I am very good friends with Jimmy Galante who owns Darrel Young racing transmissions- He takes good care of me
. Truck has all the latest and greatest including a .521 boost valve-Combine that with the Currie 9" and detroit locker and this stealth worktruck kicks some ***
The 700r4 he built for me in the Camaro shifts like it runs off pneumatic paddle shifters- instantanious down and upshifts- this one is fun to drive, can't wait to get some real power behind this trans.

Trans87 is simply doing fluid/filter change which only requires 3 to 5. Tealamn had suggested filling it off the bat with 5 quarts, then start it and add a 6th quart. That will over fill the trans and he'll be puking fluid everywhere.

Sorry I didn't get to call you Rusty on Sunday but the car had that cable problem I was trying to figure out.
Yea this will only be a fluid change. So 3-5 quarts I will get with the gasket and filter. Thanks for the advice guys I appreciate it.
