A world of difference...
I installed my new Aurora rod ends on the rear suspension today. Man, what an improvement. The old style Spohn rod ends don't hold a candle to the Auroras.
The rear suspension feels tighter and there's no more noise coming from it. Thanks to James for the tip on the Aurora rod ends and Baker Precision. Although Baker never responded to my e-mail request, they were nice to deal with on the phone.
Next, I think I'm due for new shocks and struts. The rear shocks are showing signs they may be toast. I'm going to go with KYB again, but step up to the AGX's so I can have some ride adjustabilty.
With the big brakes on the front end and the suspension fully rebuilt, I also need to start looking at buying a helmet and logging some track time. So when do we set-up the club auto-cross event?

I'd love to do a club auto-x event. Perhaps Glenn can help us set something up?

Glenn and I both autocross and there are practice events that can be entered coming up soon. Go to the www.solo2.com site and check it out. Maybe we could enter and have a Monthly meeting at one instead of drivng to Valencia. Glenn would be the one to go to, to setup a time and practice event to attend.

I dont like the $50 fee for the two at CA speedway, plus they are only allowing 20 non-SCCA members in. Is there anyway we can set up our own practice, or find one that allows more people?

I keep preaching to you guys about HSR West. You could make it a club event. Many clubs will meet out there and tour the track at lunch session $20 each car (passengers free) for 45mins. Plenty of opportunities to hammer some corners. Plus the best day of racing you will ever see!
June 18-20. You could all meet out there on Saturday maybe? I'll be there friday for certain- and Saturday if you guys show.

I like the idea of Historic racing. It's not sliding around a parking lot full of cones (don't get me wrong, it is definately challenging) but real wheel to wheel racing on a track. A lot more risky, but a lot more challenging too. And the Historic guys are generally there for fun, not out for blood. Do you have to run roll bars/racing harnesses/helmets in the Historic races?

I have tried more than once to hook the club up with "All Time Racing" out at Willow Springs / Button Willow, and for some reason it always just melts away. The guy that I work with who is part of "All Time Racing" told me personally that the more people we got to go and the earlier the commitment, the better the deal would be. He also told me that even if not everybody was racing, they still have a parade lap or something to that effect that the whole club could participate in.

To put on your own event takes alot of money to rent a location then you need insurance to cover any damages or liability, and that is not even counting the equipment it takes.
Your best bet if you want to really learn something and test your limits is to go to the scca schools or practices like I mentioned earlier.
Glenn knows exactly what it takes since he is a SCCA safety stewart AND he is a long standing member of this club.
I've trying to contact him for this thread

Read my post again. "All Time Racing" Puts on the Event. Nobody is ever interested enough to go, or it cost to much or what ever the reason. I can still make the arrangements, all we need is interest.

How much does it cost? How many people do we need to make it affordable? Safety and tech: Who does it and what is required?
Speed limits for new drivers? Any instructors available for the new drivers? These concerns are valid when high speed and inexperience come together.

Is that 275 per person for one day? or 275 per group? If its per person that is way to expensive for just going out there one time. Its good to see that they have instructors available though.

$275 is the cheap part- You will burn up a brand new set of street tires in about 2hrs of open track time. There goes about $600-800.

Sorry that you dont know me and never met me, but if you had you would never ask that question. I only responded to your post because you seem to think somebody is interested. I just happen to work with one of the people that runs All Time Racing. Nothing more. I asked on behalf of our "CLUB" if he could get the "CLUB" a better rate. If you bothered to read what I posted thats exactly what has to happen. Information only.If your not interested Drop It. And as for the tires, You Play You Pay again if your not interested Drop It. I dont care one way or the other. Its Information Only autocross
Okay guys, here's some of the deal. Figure about $2500 to $3000 for the lot, cones, insurance and timing. Two days would cost about $4000. We could run both days and bring in 50 guest per day. At $50 per day, 100 entrants (not including us) would bring in $5000 so the club *could* make $1000. We normally have 80 entries for a practice. We would have to have about 4-5 people on Sunday. I need a firm count on the amount of our club that would do this.
