IROC Passed!

I took the IROC this morning for a smog check and she passed! This time I even left my race street chip, as I had a feeling it made the car run much better than the chip I used the last time I smogged her. I only had a problem with the gas cap, but of course the smog tech sold me another one - very convient but hey it passed so it's all good

Yeah especially since the I needed to get her smogged last month, and definitely need her to be current to be able to drive her around and take her to the drags

Thanks guys, I made sure to try to do as much proactive work as I could before I took her to the sniffer police. I made sure to have a new cat and 02, but considering the getting the cat replaced cost me less than I usually paid for a cat I am not complaining. One thing is for sure the VP Race Gas is murder on cats

Which race gas are you using?
The 100 octane we use is unleaded and it should not affect your cat. The 110 octane stuff is leaded and is not compatible with catalytic converters. I know you know this but I'm letting everyone else know.

Kevin, yeah I have been using the 100 Octane VP Race Gas that I purchase from the guy at Fontana. While it alone did not take out my old cat, that and running 'dead rich' as Jerry called probably is what really took it out. Again I can't really complain about the cat as I believe I had it installed when I originally had my first set of SLP headers installed on the car

Here are the numbers, I am posting from 03 (right after the motor rebuild) and 05 (just this past week)

2003 Results:

RPM |%CO2|%02| HC (PPM) | CO(%) | NO (PPM) |
MEAS|MEAS|MEAS|MAX|AVE|MEAS|MAX|AVE|MEAS|MAX|AVE|MEAS|
2102 13.5 2.0 108 31 36 0.71 0.10 0.02 767 237 122
1932 13.6 1.8 83 20 37 0.58 0.09 0.07 706 199 116

2005 Results:
RPM |%CO2|%02| HC (PPM) | CO(%) | NO (PPM) |
MEAS|MEAS|MEAS|MAX|AVE|MEAS|MAX|AVE|MEAS|MAX|AVE|MEAS|
2193 13.7 1.1 108 31 12 0.71 0.10 0.00 767 237 414
2047 13.3 1.5 83 20 8 058 0.09 0.01 706 199 374

Now as I said I actually used my street/race chip, meaning the chip that I can run consistent 12.7s with, I believe that the EGR is not being opened 100% which is why the NO are higher, but other than that you can tell she burns pretty clean
