Just bought an 87 Iroc, 305, 5spd, Carb. just to let you know what I'm starting from.

When depressing the brake pedal while in motion, the car will initially pull to the right and then track straight. I assume that the right caliper is grabbing first, but I don't know the cause/soultion. Any sugestions are welcome.

Thanks.

damn, i thought i was the only one. except myne pulls to the left and then the steering wheel starts to shake violently. ive heard from a number of people that the brake lines go bad after a while, so i would start there. im about to replace everything that has to do with brakes in the front. good luck!

It's either the hoses or the calipers. Mine did this and I replaced hoses and calipers at the same time. It was so bad that one caliper was getting stuck and when I would drive smoke would come from the pads from the heat.

Change out your hoses and the calipers. It's all cheap, so change them all. Flush out and change the old fluid and you should be all set.

I had the same problem on my 85 Trans Am. After a while, the flexible rubber hoses connecting the calipers to the main brake line hoses built up with junk. This also decreases stopping power. I think if you replaced these, it should make a difference. I think they are around ? $12 ? apeice.

Thanks for your suggestions. The car is less than a week in my possession and every day a new laundry list of repairs. Thank the Lord I found this resource. It really is invaluable.

my back brakes did that. They are drums and I hate drums. One i think rear wheel cylinder or something of that nature started bleeding and it locked my rear right drum every time i touched the brakes...that basicaly means...i slid 10 feet every time i wen tot stop
