Spohn's Upper Strut Mount Package?

I'm looking at this product on spohn.net and am wondering if anyone knows who the manufacturer is and if they have any experience/insight/pictures with/of it. Thanks

I don't get what you guys are saying. Are the ones on Spohn.net cheap or did you guys get ripped off?

I guess I'll have to e-mail Spohn and get some answers.

Guess I should have included this.

I'm sure myself and the others that got in on the Hunter Motorsports pieces don't feel we got "ripped off"...there's only about 25 or so sets of those in the world...Search for the HMS strut mount thread to get the whole story.

Back to topic...check Tirerack.com for the strut bushing/bearings in the shock/strut section, which are KYB replacement pieces.

Ugh... OK let me start over.

I initially wanted to know who manufacturers the strut mounts in the package offered by Spohn. Does Spohn make them? Somebody else? I also wanted any pictures of the kit, installed or not, doesn't matter.

I asked if you guys got ripped off because the kit offered on Spohn's site is $164, and you said you paid $300 for a kit by HMS. I don't know who HMS is, which is why I asked if either (1) Spohn's set is cheap in comparison, or (2) you guys got ripped off.

Neither, spohns kit has stock type replacements with disk bushings that the upper strut sits in, we got spherical bearing equipped aluminum strut mounts, you will have to pay $164 each time you change struts, we just go buy a new set of bearings.

The strut mounts we have on the site are Moog OEM style replacements. Same price Summit sells them for.

Well I dont know anything about the Moog one, but I'm really happy with the HMS piece. I have not installed it yet, but I will be very soon (onto my 91). One of the good things about the HMS one (besides what z28racer pointed out) is that they are designed for lowered cars. When you order them you tell him what version you want (3 different heights) depending on your drop. The mounts allow the struts to sit higher than normal at the top. This keeps the struts from being squished, and allows them a full range of motion. Alot better than having squished struts on a dropped car only working on 3/4's of their avaliable play.

The strut mounts are "supposed" to be replaced each time you change struts, the HMS uses a pressed in spherical bearing that can be replaced when its worn out.
