spohn wonderbar

I finally recieved my wonderbar yesterday and eagerly went to test fit the shiny, new piece. Low and behold, the damn thing doesnt fit!!! I have dual electric fans and the bar interferes with the bottom mounting area for the fans. i called spohn and he said I would have to trim my fans back or move them up. Has anyone else had any experience with this problem?

I installed a Spohn bar. I got the adjustable version which is even fatter I think because of the locknut? In any case, I just set the bolt hole width to my stock wonderbar and the Spohn bar bolted right up, no problem. It did squeeze on my wiring harness slightly, as you can see but didn't really have any fitment problems.

I had similar problems with interference on the dual electric fan supports. I was also adding new swaybar brackets with 36mm greasable bushings at the same time.

I think part of my problem was that the swaybar brackets had never been torqued down before. Even then the fit was very tight. I will retry to re-install this weekend. I will repost when I do. If I borrow a digital camera, I'll include a shot.

I also had one heck of a time getting mine to fit witht the fans. I cut back on the mounts a tad and had to make my bolt holes bigger. I so thought it was going to be a bolt on item.

Hey Tom, what kind of tie rods are those? Are they the Hotchkis? They look sweet. You like them?

That's the Baer bump steer kit. They replace the outer tie rods.

Nasty: Yes I like them. They are indeed the "Baer Tracker" bump steer kit from Baer Racing. Heim joint outer tie-rod end with a beefy aluminum tie-rod adjuster sleeve.

Thanx for the info guys. I'm guessing they eliminate bump steer for better handling? Do they make the car more fun to drive? Sorry I sound like an idiot, I just haven't seen them before.
