Aftermarket steering box q's

Has anybody used this box from summit? Part number is AGR-225153. It says it fits all GM vehicles from 80 to 2001, and looks like it would work in out cars, but I'm just curious as to if anybody has used it and what they think. Its cheaper than a reman box from gm, and its brand new. Any and all opinions/responses are welcomed.

Hello
I recently installed my rebuilt box and it is great.
I sent it to Lee Engineering in CA. I will do a full write-up tonight. I recommend them over AGR.

Hey 88IROC......does Lee Engineering have a website or anything where I can get more info? I did a search but can't find anything on them. I'm very interested in getting mine rebuilt.

Thanks,
- Joel

I had an AGR box. When I put it in the steering wheel was turned almost 90* to the left. That car was wrecked and the box got loosened up quite a bit. The alignment shop I took it to for the replacement car said that they couldn't straighten out the steering wheel without causing problems in the geometry. But the box turned out to be messed up anyway so I took it out.

When I first put the box in I call AGR to ask them about the turned wheel. They said that it happens sometimes, and that it would have to be fixed with an alignment. They also said that the box couldn't be assembled incorrctly to cause the tilted wheel.

Also the one Summit sells comes with a valve that makes it VERY easy to turn the wheel, some have had it replaced with a different valve.

Hey
This is a late reply.
I got to enjoy my Lee box for a month before deploying to Iraq.
So why go with a Lee rebuld?
1. Excellent customer service and quick turn-around.
2. Custom setup, stiffer valve, bronzed shaft
3. The box comes back better than new
4. SHop with over 20 years exerience, NASCAR, etc

I was very pleased with the feel, it was much firmer.. all slop was gone. A box that required a little more input.

Great upgrade

Resurrecting this thread...anyone use the 225153? I'm replacing my box soon w/ the engine swap, and would prefer a better one, over stock (yet, obtaining direct bolt on)

Thanks

Anyone? How about any experience w/ AGR in general? It looks like a nice piece, but wanted to know off hand of any concerns...

IIRC that is the AGR box I have been running for the last 6 years with no complaints. It works great, doesn't leak like the stock worn out one did,and has a shorter and faster turning radius than stock.I also run the matched pump...all from Summit.I'm pleased with it for the price.

88IROCARMY,

Was your box originally a quick ratio (2.25 turn lock to lock) box? I'll definitely have to give these guys a call because it would be nice to have my stock box converted to a quick ratio box.

Thanks for the good info.
