i just went through a whole ordeal getting them for my car. you have a few options but it depends on the budget.

the cheaper sleeve coilover kits can work however you have to know the dia. of your choice strut/shock setup.

i wanted to keep my bilsteins which mean i had to have a set custom made........not fun. but if your going to use a more common type like koni, kyb, or even stock then most of the sleeve kits will work.

art morrisson has the largest dia. kit that i'm aware of with a 2.4" dia on the sleeve. pa racing is a close second with 2.3

if you have any specific questions let me know, good luck.

Hello Again!

Can you please tell me what kind of coil-over shock/strut combination you recommend and how
much it would cost?

Thank you!

i sent you a pm.

you can't just suggest a setup. first you must know your plans for the suspension, use for the car, and budget.

either way it is neither easy nor cheap.

Will the strut towers hold up the weight of a third gen with coilovers? It seems to me that the strut would rip right through the strut towers of a modified macferson strut car that had coilovers. Anyone?

mine hasn't...........neither has any of the other people i know.

while i don't jump ditches or beat on the car i do go through the paces without any problems (normal street bumps and wears). i know plenty of people that drag race with them and it supports the weight when they come off of wheel stands so i should hope it could hold up to minor bumps. granted i've only been running them for a short period there are plenty who have used them for years with no problems.

Do you plan to roadrace or dragrace with the car? From the way your car looks I'll asume you want to dragrace. A few companies make kits to convert our cars to coilovers, but be aware the car was not designed to run coilovers from the factory. Just something to think about. Look for Art Morrison or PA Racing. Both of those companies make coilover kits that will fit our cars. The Ground Control pieces you were looking at (Weight Jacks) are actually spring pertches, not coilovers. However, with the Weight Jacks you can convert the rear shocks to a coilover setup. The front is a different story. Weight Jacks were designed more for circle track or roadracing. But I'm sure they could be used as a cheaper alternative to the expensive coilover kits. Any shocks/strut made for a 3rd gen will work with the Weight Jacks.

hi crazy

thanks for the answer but i dont want to race draglike i want a goog streetrace suspension that provides the wheels had a free ride.in this moment the rear tire are rubbing on the body of my car so its damage the paint.
i want keep the low hight of my car that fits the tolerance of tire and bodY.
i hoipe you understand what i mean.
i phoned with proshocks(www.proshocks.com)and he mean when he got the infos about the meassures of my suspension so i can order some coilovershocks for the camaro.
i dont know something aboiut the quality ofe there shocks.
i wll look at morrison shocks to but i think the ground controll kits for shocks like tokiko isnt a good idea because its better to bye complete shocks who is the coilover on the shocks complete.
what you thonk about my idea???
thanks to all who want to help me out.....

i'm pretty sure they would be fine. however the sleeve isn't the only part you need. you have to consider how your going to mount the actuall coilover spring as well. do they make kits for the application?

i'm not sure what your trying to accomplish....?

you say you don't want to be draglike however the pics of your car are very draglike? you can't use eibach's normal springs for coilovers for starters...

i would need to know exactly what you would do with your car when your driving it.

competition road course, drag race, or street use?

hi kandied

i want no dragrace or competition road course i would like to drive on street with an better suspension.the problem is how deeper the car is so more rub the tire on my car body and damaged my paint.so i will a a coilovershocks set with springs so i can fix the car so deep as i can and no grinding between tire and body is.(what for sh... englisch)sorry
the second point is a better road holding in curves.
i drive the car allday.i want a goog suspension kit better than kyb shocks(they must adjustable in hardnes and height) so i can do the car so deep how it is at this time because the shocks must be harder.
i hope you know what i mean.
so what i saw in amerika the most people who drive an camaro that looks performance like do drag or profi race.
thanks for the time you spend in my search for the right kit.
its so bad that gives no forums like that in germany but its otherwise cool because my camaro rs 25th anniversery is the only ones that here in germany drive
take care...

Here's what I recommend. First off, you need a different set of wheels and tires. The set you have is for dragracing. The sidewall is too big causing too much flex. And the tires might be a little too big causing it to rub. Stock Camaro's came with 16x8 wheels and 245/50/16 tires. I recommend you get a set of 17x9.5 wheels and run 275/45/17 tires. Then for suspension, use the spring to set the height, and the shock/strut to set the hardness (aka dampening). You want adjustable height. Get a set of Ground Control Weight Jacks. They come with the spring (Eibach). They will allow you to set your ride height. Then, you want to control the hardness. Upgrade from KYB and run Koni adjustables or Tokiko Illumina adjustables. With this setup you can control both the height and the hardness and you dont need coilovers. Then there are also some other mods you should do. You should strengthen the chassis as much as possible. Subframe connectors (SFC), steering brace (wonderbar), and a strut tower bar (STB). Then get a good panhard bar, good swaybars, and good bushings. At that point you will have a car that handles great. You can go even further but its up to you. You will already notice a big difference.
