I just fitted my Hotchkis SFC's today too!!!

Have to say they make a hell of a difference to the launching and overall handling of the car!!

I had problems with the Y-pipe too!

What we did to resolve it involved a little "dressing" with a hammer..well, it would have worked if my pipe hadn't been a little rusty and decided now would be a good time to fall to bits!!!

The clearance wasn't too bad to be honest as i have no cat.....it was even better though when my y-pipe fell off

Cheers

Phil

True!

having a friend that owns a garage helps sometimes

Looks like you did a great job on yours though!!!!

What do you reckon to the quality and fit, apart from the y-pipe of course?

Cheers

Phil and Spdfrk1990:- Did you remove the carpet whilst welding the SFC's into place? Peel it back slightly or dampen it?

Just wondering as I may get sfc's soon.

Thanks,

Gordon

I didnt on mine i just went slow and cooled off the welds. The only spot that could possbily give u problems is the pass side in the front. But there is a space in between the brace u weld to and the floor.

Looking good man!

But do you have any pictures of where it is attacked to the front subframe? And are most SfCs attacked to the Lca body mount?

Amen!!!!

The lift made it such an easy job ( About an hour on the drivers side! )

Only tools we used were a Mig welder and a large bucket of water (In case we set fire to the carpet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Must be nice. I did mine on small two tons stands and there wasnt a whole lotta room to work. Had the same problem with the y pipe though. I had to get it moved over like an inch. Was all worth it tho.

Guys, remember no matter what you have to do to get these SFCs on it's all worth it. This is not a modification but a necessity. GM cut corners during the maufacture of these fbodys and somehow forgot to connect the front end with the rear giving us a weak chassis that squeaks, rattles, and rolllllssss

I have Hotchis SFC's and edelbrock strut brace and should be getting my wonderbar in soon. The stiffer the better..

I put my wonder bar on the week b4 it made a big difference the TDS peice is nice.TA88GTA i think mine needs to be moved a inch also where did u get urs done or how was it done. The edelbrock y pipe has 2 pipes that come around close together and it looks like it would be im possible to welding in between them. Oh for the tools u need the welder of course a wrench and ratchet to get the lca's off. ummm a grinder is nice for the welds to smooth them out. Also some good rust prevention paint for the bare metal afterwards.

I had a complete new y-pipe made up at my local speed shop. Since i also changed my oil pan at the same time, i could no longer run the y-pipe between the the cross member and the pan so i had to run it under the torqe converter.

Looks good,,I have the same SFC's but I havent gotten around to having them installed. Did you just weld on each end of the the SFC's or along the whole length of it?

Isnt there a bolt suppose to go in that hole on the LCA? Dont the direction say to take the bolt out and attach the SFC and then put the bolt in? Just wondering so when i do mine.

I see you did it in you garage, did you just use jack stands? how did you know that the car was level front to back side to side?

On the hotchkis sfc's u just weld in the ends. Yes the lca bolt goes through them you have to hake it out then bolt up the sfc and mark it with chalk then take it back off and grind. Then bolt it back up snug tack it then un bolt it and weld them in.Yeh i had it on jack stands in the back i just had them both the same amount of clicks up then in the front i had it on dolly type things that roll but jack stands would work fine.
