4th gen rear brakes... prop valve needed?
With the rear, is it a MUST to put in a prop valve or is it just recomended, but not really need? I have drums, and I wana just swap out the whole rear with a 4th gen's and wanted to know if its a must to put a prop valve in. If so, about where do you think it should go? closer to the rear, or closer to the mast. cyl? Thanks

Hey there Al. It's not necessarily a "must" but the factory manual says it needs to be changed, esp on the '88-older cars, like your '87. I do know there are guys using their stockers and hving no problems, I just changed mine to be ****. I'd say test it and see how you like it before you swap it out.

thanks man. Im more talking about an inline prop valve like one you can grab out of summit. I also heard about cars not needing it, but if need be, ill do it.

She's fine...getting REAL sick of the car stuff...he heh.
OK, in line adj prop, I get it. I think they are better and give more control so go for it. They don't fit my needs so I pass.

Im running the stock 86 prop valve for an 86 with a 4th gen rear. The brakes work fine as is but I would like a little more rear breaking... so its not a must but if your like me you will want to swap it or just go with an adjustable.
