I love days off you can get some things started. The S.T.B. is all 4130 and the weight is just over 11lbs what do you think.

Congratulations on your home made STB. It looks really good. I only wish I knew how to weld.

Looks like a chassis cage in the front. If you really need that much strength, I say weld those pieces on the side to the body and make them permanent. Then make the removable STB part just connect the strut towers. But thats just how I would do it. Everyone has their own style. Nice!!

Very nice work.
I was thinking of firing up my welder to build a custom STB myself since I am having trouble finding anything that will clear my Superram. But I definitely did not have anything like your masterpiece in mind.
When are you going to build the rollcage?

lmao.
The benifits would be very little flex for the front suspension. Plus, if your ever in a serious front end colision, I could imagine that would really make the front end much safer and stronger.
My goodness thats a work of art. What fathers do for their daughters these days.
I just noticed it looks like he's not going to be able to use the SLP air intake system, because a bar is covering the airbox.
Would you even be able to take the battery out?

How thick is that center piece of flat? Unless it's 1/4", seems like it would just flex with basically no structure to it and ~7" span.
Pretty cool though, I wish the stuff I fabricate would come out nice and clean looking like that.

I am not sure how strong that piece is but what happens if the car is in a high speed frontal impact?
I'd be worried that the 2 bars near the firewall would come into the car and injure the passenger and driver.
If the piece is really strong, I'd think that the bolts would rip out of the flat mounting tabs and the whole unit would shift towards the back of the car into the passenger compartment.

How did you bend that tubing? You have a tubing bender to use? Or did you use a torch to soften the bend area & form it around some wood blocking?

agree with teh front end collision concern. Isn't the front end designed to crumple on these cars to absorb energy from an impact?
not ******* on your work at all - I think it looks amazing and given how wobbly third gens are, this looks like it would add awesome rigidity
