Broken Brake line
I had my rear hose blow the other day on my 92 drum rear. Well in the process of removing, the line from the master cylinder, the hard line broke. Now im left with no brakes. and no where to find a bubble flared line. Is the line a 6mm or what? And also im gonna splice in the hard line about a foot from where it broke so what will i need there.
Kevin
edit: the line is 6mm, where can i fine the fittings tho, im pretty sure there metric and fine thread but what size are they, and where can i find a union and what fittings for it.

I feel your pain - I went through a similar dilema 1-2 months ago. The line is 6mm and uses ISO bubble flare fittings on the ends.
I've been told Pep Boys carries it and it has a light blue adapter on it.
As you will be splicing in a section of line yourself and don't have to worry about fitting it into parts (doesn't sound that way) - you don't need to concern yourself whether its bubble or double (as you're splicing in a section using two unions, correct?)
If you can rent a metric double flare kit from a tool place, you're good to go. Get some 6mm hard line and 2 6mm unions - it will probably come with bubble flare ends, but those can be cut off and re-flared with a double flare. Alternatively, I used 1/4" brake line that came double-flared with a 1/4" union and was able to mate one side at 6mm line with the other side being 1/4" line.

Well one end will have to be a bubble flare cuz it broke right at the nut. I dont have a pep boys near me closet one is in Knoxville i think
Yes i can make the double flare where the splice was gonna be, i was just wanting to know what size the tube nut was for the bubble flare

Axle/Gears: ones that turn.
6mm is about equal to 1/4 " for your splice.
If you can remove the inverted nut from the hose fitting, you can re-use it on the new section of line. Buy your piece of line, and since you'll be cutting one end off to flare it anyway, you can just slide the old 'bubble flare' nut on first, then the new 'double-flare' nut on and then flare the end of it.
Use a socket to remove the old nut, and you should be able to push the broken piece of through it.
Also, check to make sure both bleeder screws will open before making a trip to the supply store.

I was gonna post this before, but didn't think you had to replace a fitting.
I had to replace a fitting - the parts guy handed me two adapters
1.) GM Metric to 3/16" (double flare)
2.) 3/16" to 1/4" adapter.
from there, we used 1/4" line to the 1/4" union (1/4" is like 6.35 mm) hooked to the 6mm line on the other side.
good luck!

Ok i get ya, on the side where it is 6mm, you just use the 1/4 tube nut on it.... so where my line is broke ill put a 1/4 nut on, double flare it, and then the 1/4 union followed by another nut and double flare that will go into the other side of the union then to the 1/4 to 3/16 adapter, then finally in to the 3/16 to gm metric adapter.
If i got that right, thanks alot, also what auto store did you get yours from.
Thanks
