Need to identify some old skool Cragars
I have had these sitting around for about 2 years now, and I just pulled them out of the shed and spent several hours with a rag and chrome polish. They came out pretty sweet, but I think I'll have them re-dipped.
Anyway, I'm curious as to what years they were made, what model they are, and if anyone here has them on their car.
This is all I can find on the rims:
Front: 14x6 JJ TEC DOT4 12 85 1
Cragar seal of approval sticker
Sticker that says: Meets SFI spec 5-1A
z220317
Back: RYESA HECHO EN MEXICO
MAC REG 14x10 CJ295 791
E226935
I couldn't get the serial #'s off one of the fronts and rears, as the stickers were missing.
Both have little 1/2" bolts encircling the rim that say:
SS
T
on them.
Also, if you look in the back of the rims, it looks as if there are threads for the bolts in the front. Are they able to be taken apart? It sure would be easier to polish!

Those are the SST (or maybe S/ST or SS/T) model.
The have a uni-lug design to fit on GM's 4¾" or Ford and Dodge's 4½" bolt circle, and needed special offset type washers and flat lugnuts for mounting.

When I checked ebay (great resource place!) for SST, it came up with several auctions for lugnuts. They had long shanks, and I know I need that. But, you said something about needing flat ones? And what thread do I need?
Also, why wouldn't you put the 14x10 ones on a 3rd gen? I think if I get the right tires they won't rub the inner 1/4, if that's what you mean.

I might have been wrong on the 'flat' part...I was referring to them having a flat face where they met the washers. A buddy of mine had a similar set on a Cutlass he had eons ago, and I remember he was forever checking and re-tightening the nuts because they would work loose.
PS:
Be sure to get metric threaded lug nuts - M12x1.5. Standard threaded ones will pooch the threads on the studs.

Ok, thanks for the size! I wasn't sure.
About washers... I don't see why I would need them; as the holes are oval, but only as wide as the lug nut shank. There is no recess for the washer to sit in, so wouldn't it slide around?
I had a set of slotted rims with the universal holes once that had lug nuts with washers, and they had a little oval carved out for the washer to rest in. (Still have all the nuts/washers... sucks I can't use them! They are too short.)

The washers he was talking about had the holes on one end. You turned them towards the center of the wheel for ford mopar and AMC, you turned them towards the rim for GM. The washers are what made them (the rims) universal.
